In Saturday night's 125cc Money class, Chase Romero , Chase Guidry and Jaso n qualified one-twa-three. But in the main, jason quickly grabbed the lead, w ith the two Chases chas ing him. Chase Romero and Guidry battled bar to bar for a couple laps until Guidry w e nt down . jas o n held off Chase Romero until halfway, when the latt e r used a block-pass to secure the lead. Meanwh ile, Dustin had worked his way up to challenge jaso n fo r second . The two brothers from Lorange r, Lo uisiana, raced from turn to turn until Dustin finally prevailed. Chase Romero won the race . The 125cc No vice and Open classes had some of th e closest battles of the week ends . Loranger's Broc Andre , Sunset's Ryan Quebedeaux and Mandeville's Tim Bergeron filled out the top three spo ts in the Open class w hen perennial front-ru nner Chase Melancon crash ed into fifth. Q uebedeaux won the 125cc Novice qualifier. w hile jacob Heintze squeezed out jordan Champagne in an e xcit ing battle for second. Loranger rider Dust in Sampey crashed right 011 the gate and got run ove r by the pack, but he shoo k off the pain and ca me back to take second in the main, behind Qu ebedeaux. Port Vincent's Mitch Gourney bested 15 other ride rs in the Mini Open 8scc class and finished second in both the 8scc ( 12. 15) and Schoolboy classes . It too k Andre several laps to finall y edge out Goumey for the win in the Schoolboy co ntest . Glen Guidry cont inues to defy father T ime, racing with the fro nt-runne rs in the 250cc Open. Com bining his experience with timely boleshots. he showed the young stallions a few old tr icks from the '70s. He tangled up w ith one of his students, Melancon , in tu rn thr ee and gave him a good -natured slap on the helmet while they were picking up their bikes. Melancon got up to take third , behind Daniel Viningand eventual w inner Brock Hollis.
