A t the final race of the Clark Coun ty Arenaf""lIt\c. ross Scrambl es series, trac k medi c "Bad
Andy" Davidson pulled off his first win of the
series .
In the O ver 30 Beginner main even t , t he
ho lesho t went to Ro d Richeson , fo llo w e d
close ly by Davidson . Then Davidson we nt to
wo rk on Richeson, and after several laps he got
aro und him for t he lea d . Rob e rt Shaffe r an d
Shannon Barnes suffered terrible starts; this duo
has batt led for points throu ghout t he se ries.
Barnes was a little more aggressive than Shaffer,
moving up to fourth place, while Shaffer knew
he had the points in the bag and set t led for fifth.
Davidson built up en o ugh o f a le ad to have
so me breat hing ro om , but Richeson put on a
sudd en burst of speed and caught back up to
Davidso n, and w he n th e checke re d flag came
out, it was Davidson, Richeson and , amazingly,
Barn es go ing thro ugh t he w ho o ps togeth e r.
However, Davidson held them all off to take the
win. Second went to Riches o n, an d Barn es
finished third . Jeff Kimbrough finished fourth,
and Shaffer was fifth.
The officials decid ed that for the last race
they should hos t a pit -bike money class, and
host one the y did.
In the 50cc Four-Stroke (O ve r 16) Money
heat race , there was chaos off the start , as the
gate dr opp ed a litt le too soon for some riders .
Ge tt ing int o the to p po sitio ns w e re Keith
DiBrino, Trevor Krogh and Justin Wh arton, the
latter of whom made short work of the rest of
the pack and shot out into the lead. Th e man to
watch was Mike Storm, as the Fast 50s rider is
one of t he No rth west's elite pit-b ike racers.
Despite bei ng the las t ride r off t he gate, he
quickly caught up to the pack and began to slice
th ro ugh th e field . St o rm soo n caught and
passed DiBrino for second, and then he we nt
after t ha t first-place pos ition . Sto rm passed
Wharton through t he w hoop section, on ly to
have Whar t o n pass him bac k on th e start
st ra ig ht . The two battle d unt il Storm set
Wharton up for a block-pass. only to flip into
Wharton's bike! Wharton then cru ised on to the
victory, w ith DiBrino dire ctl y be hind him in
second and Krogh in third.
St o rm blast e d into t he lea d in t he ma in
event , and this time Wharton was the last rider
into t he first comer. Storm was untouchable, as
he was the only rider with enough horsepower
Anni\l4=rc:;~" "
to ge t over all of t he do ubl es . The Xt re memou nted Wharto n mo ved up fast until he
caug ht up to DiBrino and Kro gh, w ho we re
loc ked in a fie rc e battle . Wharton followe d
them until he fo und an ope ning and the n passed
DiBrino just before the w ho op section . Soon
Whart on and Krogh we re squabbling over the
second -place spot. Storm too k the win; Krogh
held on to second, and Wharton finished third.
Fourth went to DiBrino, and Scott Whee ler
finished fifth.
