Thacker Praductian s/Western Power Sp orts / Fly Racing Arenacross Dia mond W Are na Arenacross Arrives in Alvarado By SHEUY WATSON ALVARADO, TX, DEC. 12-14 A renacross made its debut in Alvarado, Texas, at the inaugural ~ iamond WfWestern Powe r Sports/Fly Racing Arenacross and Expo, a th ree-day event complete wit h a $ 12,000 Pro purse , Amate ur Open racing, a freesty le jump-o ff, and extreme pit-bike races . Thacker MotoX Inc.{frackside Cycle Shop's Roy Thac ker, Western Power Sports/ Fly Racing's Mike Hill, and john Allencar of DFW KTM came together to bring motocross indoors to an outstanding facility that hopefully will be draw ing motocrossers for years to come . O n Friday night, josh Demuth was on fire in the 125cc Pro class, leading the who le race . A first-lap pileu p in the whoops left KTM pilot je re my Durre tt and Scotty Trimble scrambling to gain posit ions. Tommy Hofmaster and Robbie Reynard had their own batt le going on t he third lap for second and th ird, while Kevin joh nson, Charlie Bogard and Adam Menne nga we re also batt ling. Reynard put a bloc k-pass on Hofmaster for seco nd on lap three. By lap seven, Demuth was lapping the field, gaining a five -second lead over Reynard and Hofmaster. Johnny Marley passed Bogard on lap nine for fifth. Tw e lve riders lo ad ed the gate for t he 25 0 cc Pro c lass . Ho fmaste r to ok t he ho leshot, w ith De muth, Reyna rd, josh johnson and McFly Schell in tow. O n lap three, Dem uth passed Hofmaster for first, but one lap later Hofmaste r re passed him. On lap six, Dem uth and Reynard bot h passed Hofmaster to take over first and second, finishing in that orde r. Menne nga finished a strong fourth . Kevin ro unded out the top five. Kevin Johnson too k ho me the big bucks for his performance in the Freestyle jump-Off by co mplet ing a "Iazyboy" jump. Saturday eve ning be longed to Reynard , in both the I25cc and 250cc Pro classe s. Hofmaste r grab bed a huge holes hot in th e 12Scc main event, while his team mate Demuth struggled on the sta rt and fell at this first tum , finishing the first lap in last place . Re ynard stayed on Hofm ast er ' s back fe nder, w a it ing fo r Hofmast er to e ithe r ma ke a mist a ke o r make a bloc k- pass . Mennenga and Scotty Trimble we re bar to bar on lap four, and by lap five Demu th ha d moved up to sixt h place . Hofm ast e r 's mistake came on lap seve n, when he slid out, and tha t was all it t oo k for Reynard to ta ke ove r t he le ad and ta ke t he wi n. Hofm aste r finished second, wh ile Dem uth worked his way up t hrough the pac k t o finish thi rd afte r ga t ing in last place . Mennenga and Scott Metz ro unded out the top five. Dem ut h, Reynard and Hofmaste r led t he way for a field of I I riders in t he 2S0cc Pro class for t he first six laps, with Bogard and KTM pilot Men holding the fourth - and fifth-place positlons . Dem uth and Reynard co ntinued their batt le until the end of the race , when Reynard passed De muth on t he last turn to take the win. Hofmaste r. Bogard and Mennenga finished out the top five.
