Supermini and 85(( (7- 11) classes at the penultimate rou nd of the Xtr e me MXlBeasley Hon da/H aywood's Discount Drugs/Gilland GMC-sponsored series. Yl250F-mo unted Austin Jones led the first Yo ut h ( 12- 15) mota. fo llowed by Blane and Aaron Bourn e. Blane too k the lead out of turn t hre e. Bourne overshot a berm , a nd Ryan Holder took third . Blane rode unchallenged to a 39-second win. Jones maintained second, just ahead of Holde r and Bourne. Jones and Bourne got the jump on Blane in moto two , but Blane was second by tu rn th ree , and he caught Jones halfway t hro ugh lap one . Jo nes maintai ne d second . Again, Ho ld e r overt oo k Bourne for third. Local Pro Clay Downing too k a back seat to a fast 125(( B rider on a new KX250F as Blane , gra bbed the start of t he first 250(( Money! 125 cc B! 125cc C mo ta and led Jones and Downing, on a YZ250. Downing took second a nd w e nt after Bla ne , wh ile Jo nes , Jeremy Richard a nd Ho lde r battled fo r th ird. T hen Downing wen t dow n hard over the ta ble top . Blane won by a quarter of a track, Richard was second. and Jones placed third. Do w ning ga te d first in race two . Bla ne moved to second on lap one . Richard doubled past Bourne (or third. Downing won by thr ee seconds over Blane, the first B rider. Bourne B 76 finishe d just a he ad of Jo ne s in fo urth a nd knocked him out of the top spot in the C class. Tramel put an awesome inside pass on Woodfin going over the tabletop to claim second . Coo k was a DN5 for mota two. Kendall led Tramel and Enterp r ise , Alab a ma's Ga ry Drummond off the gate . With Kendall we ll out fro nt, Woo dfin clo sed in on Drummond and Tramel at halfway. Kendall posted a 37-second win over Tramel, and Woodfin was t hird. In a we ll-timed maneuver, Kendall squa red off the first t urn at the apex and we nt und er Tramel for the holes hot in the first com bined 85cc (7-1 1) and ( 12- 15) mota . Wood fin passed Drum mo nd and se t out afte r Tramel. Tramel gained som e br eat hing room over Woodfin. Kendall grabbed major air over the finish-line jump and wo n by ne a r ly half t he tr ac k. Drummond stayed w it h third-placed Woodfin until he went down in a corn er on the final lap. Wood fin nailed the holeshot, over Tramel, in mot o tw o. Alabama Sta te Championship Fall Se ries Monster Mountain Motocross Park McCutcheon, Askew Level the Mountain By STEVE AND PEGGY CORLEE TALLASSEE, AL, NOV. 21·23 T he Alabama State Champ ionship Motocross Series began its final go-around at Monste r Mountain in Tallassee , Alabama. With only four rounds remaining, several class champio nships rema ined undec ided, and racing action was top notch all wee ke nd. The re we re no surprises in the Pro division, as series leade r Drew Askew came out on top of both the 125(( and 250cc classes, facing litt le competition. Equally impress ive was Ripley. West Virg inia 's C o lb y McCutcheon. who led every lap of every mota in both t he 125cc and 250cc C classes. McCutcheon used his CRF250R to totally annihilate his competition in the small class and his trusty CRF450R to do likewise in the 250s. The first race of the day was the 125ce C class. McCu tcheon to ok cha rge immediately. Hot on h is heels we re Alab a ma ' s Jak e Meadow s, on his RM125. a nd YZ- mo un ted Bob by Ew ing . Me adows hu ng w it h 40 t h A nnive r s ary McCutcheon for nearly the e ntire race, forcing t he Honda ride r to prot ect his lines in every corne r. Ewing faded ea rly on , and Geo rgia's Dylan Daniels came up to third. Meadows tried a littl e too hard and bobbled near race 's end, hand ing seco nd to Daniels. McCutc heo n too k advantage of Meadows' mishap to pull away and take the win. followed by Daniels, Florida's Loni Porto, and Meadows. Meado ws came back in mo to two to give McCutc heon fits all race long. The pair we nt b ac k and forth t he entire moto , but McCutc heon hung on to take the win, followed by Meadows. Kent ucky' s Lee C ampbell and Alabama's Josh Fuller. In t he 2SDcc C class, McC ut ch eon again took the win in both motos. The Pro division was an Aske w ben efit. In the first 125(( mota . Askew grabbed the lead and c hecked ou t, leav ing Ten nessee's Phillip Myers and Brent Brush to fight over the scraps. Br ush came out in se co nd, a hea d of Myer s.
