Robbie Reynard returned to Texas in hopes of shatt ering the bad-luck st re ak tha t has haunted him at prev ious Cycle Ranch events . Back in 200 I, Reynard was set to win the Four-Stro ke National when his Cannondale sudd enly sto pped; at th is year's Te xas Pro event, his Kawasaki blew up while he was lead ing facto ry Suzuki rider Travis Pastrana. But Reynard 's luck was about to change (or the better. In the first Pro mote, Th omas Hahn ripped the holeshor. with Jo hnny Marley. Vernon McKiddie . Heath Voss. Brandon Beabout. Reynard . Jame s t-tarshatl and Man Karlsen in to w. Wh at happened next surprised everyone, as Hahn and 'remahe-mcunted Marley started to pull away (ro m the pack . W ith about six laps in the book, Marley started to fall off Hahn's pace , and Hahn began to pull away. Reynard was also on the move; he got around Mc Kidd ie and Marshall and int o t hird . Hahn won the moto wit h an incredible 2S·second le ad! Marley finis he d next, follo wed by Reynard , McKidd ie , Marshall and Voss. Karlse n, Robbie Smith. Alabam a's C had Ward , and Charles Castloo rounded out the top 10. The seco nd -moto holeshot w e nt to Oklah oma's Mar ley, fo llo we d closely by Hahn , Be abo ut , Aust in Squires , Reyn ard , Karlsen , Voss. Ty Con no r a nd Taylo r Watts . The track was superrough, as this w as the final moto of the five-day event. As th e pack ca me arou nd fo r t he first lap, Hahn bumped Marley's rear tire and w e nt do wn , hand ing second to Beabout, who held it fo r a lap. Reynard moved up to th ird and Voss to fourth . and Hahn recovered in fifth. With a few laps down , Reynard started to ree l in Marl ey, loo king for that overall victo ry. But Marley was toug h and stoo d his gro und fo r a fe w more laps be fore the No Fear-backed Reynard cou ld get past. T hen , like a bo lt of lightning, Re ynard zapped past Marley and w e nt on for the second-malo w in and the overall victory on a 3- 1 score . Marley finished secon d, going 2-2 fo r seco nd o verall. Hah n got around Voss fo r third , giving him th ird ove rall. Voss finished fourth, followed by Ne wport, Rhode Island's Austin Squires.
