As the ride rs fini shed th e first lap , Weisen fels had pulled a lead of 56 seconds o ver Carr , and Sa nde rs wa s another 52 sec onds bac k . As San de rs sta rted hi s seco nd lap , he saw just how m uch work he had cut out for him . " I rode very hard. but Weisen fels and Carr were gone ," Sand er s said . "and my next c once rn was to k eep eve ryo ne [else] from c atc hing m e." By th e end of the second lap. A rid er Chad E ch o ls ha d m a d e it up t o f o u rt h overall. Poteete had gollen hi s flat fixe d with j ust enough tim e to run ano ther lap. The leader had p ulled an even la rg er lead . Carr was hanging o n, tryi ng t o m ainta in a c o nst a n t speed. Sanders was also having an off day , but he was good eno ugh to stay in third. The po sitions stayed th e same fo r the last two laps.
