pulled th e holeshot , with St eve Pett y all over
his rear wh eel. How ev er , Wood was just too
qu ick for Petty to pa ss. Behind th e lead ers.

looked back . Pett y wa s clos e. and he ran the
inside and out sid e. trying to find a way around
Wood . but he co uldn' t m ak e a pa ss. Badgett
was runni ng in th ird un til he stalled his bik e,
and by th e tim e he refired it. Ceiazza . Emerson and Got ch had passed him. Th e running
o rde r stayed the same fo r the remainder of
the m ot a .

win ner . He went 2- 1 in the 125cc B class to
tak e the win ov er Jimmy Weaver. Michael Hall
a nd J ust in Will ia m s. In th e Youth (12- 15)
cl ass, Hamilton ran aw ay from th e field in bo th
m ot os . In th e first mota, Hamilton ba tt led with
Willia m s to tak e th e wi n. In the seco nd m ota ,
his cl osest co m petito r was Chas Benes h, who
too k second . T he fin al orde r was Hamilt on ,
Benesh , Willi am s and Stephen Upp er.

the Ov er 35 C cl ass. Ch ris Bl ak e and Bud dy
Martin battled th e en ti re fi rst mota. with Bl ak e
co m ing o ut on top and Ma rt in in seco nd , fo llow ed by Matt Fre nc h and Bart Cla rk . In the
second rn ot o , Cla rk pulle d the ho leshot, with
Martin in to w. B lake missed the start du e to
m ech an ical grem lins ; however. he got his bike
ru n n ing as t he class left t he line . and he
cha rged throu gh th e pack while Clark and
Martin battl ed for the lead . Cla rk pulled away
lat e in th e mota, lea ving it a th ree -way battle
fo r ru nn er -u p am o n g M art in , French and
Blake. In th e fina l tum. Bl ak e moved on th e
inside o f Martin to ta ke second in the m oto .

Though the Kenworthy 's GP Club facili ty
was rec ently under wate r, th e river had reced ed and the August sun had dehumidified this
very green tra ck. attracting an extremely hefty
group of better than 600 entrants. With c ontingency money and seri es awards up for grabs,
m an y of the M id west' s t o p Amateur riders
w ere c o m pe ti ng , ma ny have just retu rn ed
from Loretta Lynn ' s.

YZ250 to best Hill in the 250cc A even t. While
Skaggs an d Hill were t he two heroes, Steve
Richa rds was very im p ressive on his YZ 125 in

belt, as the F£,S Suzuki rider to ok th e 65 cc
(7- 9) cla ss at Lo retta Ly nn ' s and was prepared to onc e aga in show his speed back in
th e Buckeye State. Br igh t well bo un ced his
wa y ar ound th e ve ry fun k id s' ci rc uit and
qu ickly earned bo th fi rst- pla ce trophies fo r th e
65 cc and Mini Junior classes.
In 50 cc actio n , ST F Motor sports· ba ck ed
Jake Sk inne r won th e 50cc (4·8) class aboard
his KTM, while Darr en Walsh once aga in tor e
up th e 50cc (4 ·6) d ivi sion , also on a KTM.
Dakota Hacker rode stro ng in the 50 cc (7 ·8)
