Chuck "Feets" Minert, as his 5-5 rides were good for fifth overall. The Vet Beginner class usually features some tight racing, and this week was no exception. Yamaha rider Larry Lenger eventually prevailed in both motos to eam the overall class win. Lenger got good starts in each mota, worked his way into the lead early and put in solid laps from there until the checkered flag came out for a win both times.out. Kirk Forsht showed the value of a mistake-free perfonnance, and his 2-3 tally placed him second overall, while Mark Kramer rode to 4·2 scores and was rewarded for his efforts with a third-place overall finjsh. Kawasaki rider Dan Rice (3-4) was fourth, and Dan Dulin (6-5) came in fifth. They punched a hole in the wall and ran the motocross track down a steep embankment and onto the surrounding property. Stambaugh entered the Steve Heiser Yamaha 500 in the Over 40 final and grabbed the lead from Stauffer, Heiser and Bruce Miller. After battling with Stauffer for the first half, Heiser put his Action Motorsports of York Honda in second and started to chase after his older machine, with Stambaugh aboard, but Stambaugh kept the other AMS in front for a surprising win. Kohler did his best to keep Jones in sight all day aboard his KTM SX 200, and in both motos he was the runner-up, earning second overall on the day. Lyle Sweeter pushed his Honda CRF450R to third place via 5-4 mota scores, while Jack Roten (4-5) took fourth. and Motocross Action's Jody Weisel (6-6) filled out the top five. John Caper took the measure of a very competitive field of Over 40 Junior riders, as his I - 1 showing was good for the top prize on the day. Caper worked hard in each moto, and he eventually worked his way to the front each time with fast and consistent riding. Gene Elzenberger was the best of the rest, as he turned his 2-4 rides into second overall, while Brian Pappalardo (4-3) took third aboard his Kawasaki KX125. Mike Phillips (7-2) went home fourth on the day, and RPM's Rick Peterson (6-5) was fifth. Horst Leitner was dominant in the Over 60 Masters class, as he took both hoieshots and led every lap of both motos for the overe.1J win on the day.
