With a few key players missing, the Over
25 Pro-Am class was a mixed bag of excitement, as six racers were ready at the gate,
eager to start the show. With the 3D-second
board hanging in the air. the motors revved
and the crowd grew quiet. As the gate
dropped, Hansen charged to the front, posting
the holeshot for the first mota. Hansen didn't
have to look behind him. however; he could
undoubtedly hear the sound of Andy Bowyer's
Kawasaki roaring up hard as the two completed the first two laps. Answer Racing-sponsored Casey Haynes kept the top two in his
sights as he battled for third with Neosho, Missouri's Chris Shellenberger. KTM rider Drinnon
was on the move, and he made the pass for
second on lap three, leaving Shellenberger
and Haynes in his roost. Drinnon went on to
pressure the leaders for their top spots until
falling back to fifth in the moto. Bowyer was
able to move past Hansen on the third lap,
leaving Hansen to settle for second. Shellenberger held his line over Haynes, pulling down
the third position.
In the second mota, Hansen was obviously
not yet satisfied, as he raced out in front of the
field for the holeshot and the lead - unfortunately, for the first lap only. After that, Bowyer
made ready for a repeat performance from the
first moto by taking charge of the field and
never looking back. Honda rider Shellenberger
seemed interested in moving up but quite
comfortable in the third position. At the end of
the day, Bowyer was the man with the plan, as
he pulled down the overall top spot. Hansen
settled for second, with Shellenberger, Haynes
and Drinnon rounding out the top five.
The riders in the 250cc Expert class have
mastered the physics of centrifugal force and
the art of entertainment. They make the ruts
and jumps look effortless, all while posting
nearly supersonic speeds. ationally ranked
Stone is the fastest of the fast. When Stone is
competing. you will almost always find him
with the holeshot or running down the man
who got lucky and grabbed it from him.
Behind Stone is often where the action takes
place. because a whole host of top spots are
still up for grabs. Nick Metcalf was one of
those riders on this particular race day, and he
wanted a piece of the action. Metcalf charged
hard toward the front and even remained in
Stone's time zone for most of the race until
crashing hard on the last lap. Metcalfs crash
left him with injuries and out of contention in
the second moto. David Frye, Josh Mast,
Hansen and Robbie Smith went bar to bar to
settle the remaining four positions, with
Hansen assuming Metcalf's second-place
position on the last lap. Frye, Bowyer and
Smith rounded out the top five.
Frye absconded with the holeshot in the
second mota, only to have it snatched away
by Stone on the second lap. Frye held his line
throughout the rest of the race to pull down
the second-best place for the day. Bowyer,
Mast and Dustin Curley couldn't make up their
minds about where they wanted to finish until
the last lap; Bowyer rode away with third,
leaving Mast and Curley with the last two
top-five finishes.

Panzer went down in the comer after the double, and Davenport got by for second. Posey
again was riding smoothly and fast, but Davenport kept Posey within striking distance. At
the halfway point, Davenport was ready to
make his move. Davenport got a good line
coming through the whoops and set up the
pass on the next corner. getting by Posey.
Davenport took the win in dominant fashion.
Posey took second spot with a large lead over
the rest of the field.
The overall win went to Davenport (I - I ),
Posey (2-2) was second, and Borges (3-3) finished third overall.
Justin Elswood powered his way to the first
corner to lead the 250cc Junior class. Tyson
Coleman and Lance Brady were right with
Ellswood as the three came over the doubledouble section, Brady went down and was
unable to continue. Nathan Valdez moved into
third. Coleman and Valdez closed on Elswood.
Valdez was able to put a move on Coleman in
the last corner on the last lap and squeak by
for second. Ellswood took the win, and Coleman was third.

Kipp Posey and Gray Davenport were two
dominant forces in the Pro classes at Hot
Springs Raceway in Ogden, Utah. Davenport
took both the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes,
and Posey took the Over 25 Pro class and was
the only rider to be able to challenge Davenport. Chad Wallwork was the only other Pro
winner, taking the Over 30 class.
Davenport took the holeshot in the first
250cc Pro moto, with Posey and Wallwork in
tow. Posey got by Davenport halfway through
the first lap and started to pull away. Posey
was not making any mistakes; he was simply
fiying. Davenport kept Posey in sight. At the
halfway point, Posey still held the lead. but
Davenport was making up time. Davenport
was able to catch and pass Posey. in the S
corner. Davenport just gained a bike length
here and another there, and soon he had
good lead. Davenport took the win, followed
by Posey, with a big gap over Josh Borges
in third.
In the second moto, Posey absconded with
the holeshot. with David Panzer on his tail.

his tail, to start moto two. E1swood got off to a
slow start and was at the back of the pack.
Coleman worked his way around Valdez and
proceeded to pull away. Valdez held on to second, with Jeremy Crandal taking third.
Elswood worked his way up to fourth.
Coleman (3-1) took the overall, Valdez
(2-2) placed second, and Elswood (1-4)
was third.
Josh Clifton shot off the line and took the
pack around the first corner in the 125cc
Intermediate class. Clifton's lead was shortlived. though, as Chad Jorgensen and Daniel
Johnson both got around Clifton by the end of
the first lap. Johnson was like a shadow on
Jorgensen, but he could not get by. Zane Trivett worked his way to third place but couldn't
make up any time on the two leaders. The
checkers flew with Jorgensen in first, followed
by Johnson, Trivett and Clifton.
In the second mota, Jorgensen was out in
front, with Johnson again on his tail and Trivett trying to keep pace. Johnson looked for a
way around Jorgensen, but Jorgensen didn't
provide Johnson with any passing opportunities as the two ran away from the rest of the
class. Jorgensen took the close win, over
Johnson, with Trivett in third and Clifton
fourth.
Keaton Ward pulled the holes hot in the
first 60cc (6-8) moto. Wesley Parker and
Braiden Hartzell were closing on Ward as they
headed into the rhythm section. Hartzell was
able to pass both of them on the comer before
the rhythm section and take over the lead.
Ward and Parker battled all moto long, with
Parker on Ward's tail the entire mota. Hartzell
pulled a three-second lead and just put it on
auto pilot to take the moto win. Ward held off
Parker for second.
Ward absconded with the holeshot in the
second mote. Parker and Hartzell kept Ward in
Sight. Hartzell used the same move as in the
first moto and again got by both of them in the
corner before the rhythm section. Parker
stayed close to Ward. waiting for a mistake.
but the young rider never gave Parker a
chance to overtake him.
Hartzell took the overall, Ward was second.
and the final podium spot went to Parker.
Hartzell also took the 50cc (7-8) and 50cc
Modified overalls, becoming the only threeclass winner for the day.
