J
is also the man in charge of preparing the racing surface for the club.
Starter Jim Vanderkooi, John's brother, set
the line up and waved the flag, sending the
anxious group of racers on their way. John
was the quickest off the start, and the steadyriding veteran used his track knowledge and
experience to increase his advantage and pull
clear of the Open Pro pack for the win, avenging his heat-race loss from earlier in the
evening. Shamblin couldn't match his healrace-winning pace and had to settle for a welldeserved second place. Brad brought his
hard-working 250cc two-stroke home in third,
in Front of the fire-breathing Yamaha 750cc
twin of former road racer Chris Thomas.
With that, the sun set on another fast, fun,
rambling Sunset night of short-track racing in
Galion. and everyone loaded up their gear,
double·checked their maps. and set course for
home.
Whether Shamblin actually ended up there
or not is anybody's guess!
