Northrop also came out and won the halftime Dash For Cash event in convincing style. Honda rider Stan Finney from Oakley won the overall in the 250cc Intermediate class via a 1-2 moto finish. Court Tiede, on the orange KTM, was second for the evening with a 3-1. Third on the night was Suzuki pilot Steven "Iceman" Hernandez (2-3). Fourth went to Gary Forrest of Concord, riding a Yamaha. but a bobble early in the race dropped him to second. behind Politelli, Tackett fought back on his Factory Effex/Riders' Edge-backed RM65 to sew up the overall on a 1-1 performance, over the 2-2 tally of Politelli. Chris Cuero. Cody Baker and Junior Delgado finished third through fifth. respectively, KTM pilot Tommy Aquino was equally impressive in the 65cc (9-1 I) class. where he turned a pair of holeshots into decisive wins. Michael Baker held off Joey Savatgy for a second-place finish in molo one, but Baker encountered problems in moto two and was unable to finish, handing the second-place tro· phy to Savatgy on 3-2 rides, Shawn Rhinehart went 5-3 for third, over the 4-4 score of Chris Carrillo. CA, JUNE 20 So it wasn't exactly a hot summer night, but it was a Friday. With a breeze blowing, everyone had jackets and sweatshirts on, but the racing went on, and the trophies were handed out once again at Club Moto. Livermore local C.J. Maria rode like the wind and received trophies for his performances in the 250cc Novice and Open classes. Maria raced his Yamaha to a double-moto victory in the Novice class, securing the overall. Maria's best competition came from Morgan HiII's Shaun Schofield. who took second for the night with a 3-2 tally on a Yamaha. Local boy Travis McRae from Livermore placed third on the night. going 2-3, Maria was on the gas again in the Open class and split moto wins with Honda rider Jeremy Johnson from nearby Tracy. Johnson was on it in the first moto, taking the win, over Maria and Honda rider Chris Schar. Moto two, the tie-breaking moto, went to Maria, as well as the overall. Johnson finished second and second overall with a 1-2 tally. followed by Kawasaki jockey Aaron Strong from Dublin with a 4-3 score. In the always-well-populated 80cc Beginner class, Yamaha rider Ryan Connors from Concord pulled off the win. Yamaha-mounted Mario Bonfante took second overall after coming from the second division after the first moto. Third for the evening went to Yamaha rider Doug Swartz. Stephen Tarpley, on a Suzuki. took fourth, Jeff Northrop and Mike Newnham were the winners in the 250cc and 125cc Pro classes, respectively.
