and passed Delaney but couldn't hold on. Delaney took the mota win, with Reamer second and John W. Cole scoring a third. In moto two, Justin Mays grabbed the holeshot, but Delaney once again would not be denied; he moved into first and rode away. There were many position changes behind him, however. Reamer ran in second but then met with some difficulty. Mark Kalfayan and Dean Taylor worked through the pack to get second and third, respectively. "I'm working hard to get to Loretta·s." the 9-year-old Delaney said. "I like Ricky Carmichael and love coming to Baja MX. I had a lot of fun, and I just tried to ride my own race." "We love this sport and do it as a family," said Delaney's mom, Amy. "It's great to see the 50cc Seniors on the big track, and we want to thank Lowe Racing and Tom's Cycle for all their help." There were many things that made this race special, including the fact that it rained all over the area· except at the track. Another was the riding by acclaimed Suzuki rider Dominic Izzi. In the 80cc (12-15) class, Izzi followed David Bacon's Honda into the first turn. The track was perfect, and Izzi flowed around the course with ease. By the end of lap one, Izzi had taken the lead, and he didn't look back. Behind him, the other riders put up a fight. Alex Hotchkiss worked his Suzuki through the pack and settled into second, while Mark Snyder rode a good race in third. The second mota saw lzzi with the holeshot. Hotchkiss gave chase in second around the sandy, physically demanding course. On lap three, a hard-charging Snyder moved into second. Bacon and Kurtis Lee fought for third and kept a fast pace. Suzuki riders took the top three overall spots, as Izzi, Snyder and Hotchkiss covered the podium. It was a day of great racing, with a story in each class, but the overall story is that of the youth of District 14. Memorial Day made everyone look back and give thanks, and on this weekend we were also thankful for what's coming in the future. Results 50 (4-6) BEG: I. Joshull Cofft:y (Vllrn): 2.
