Shawn Haberlock. Watts tried to stay with
Haberlock but fell short and started to lose
time on the leader every lap. Following distantly was the last Intermediate rider, Tyler
Riehl, who was trying to hold off Junior riders
Drew Mitchell and Dustin Sullivan. Haberlock
took a convincing win, followed distantly by
the Insane TerrainjHoleshot Designs-backed
Watts in second and Riehl in third.
In moto two, once again Watts came out of
the first comer in the lead, and once again he
lost it to Haberiock, who pulled out to a huge
lead. Watts fell down right away and was relocated back to 11 th place. Watts seemed to
find a burst of speed and started to put on an
awe-inspiring race through the pack. By the
fourth lap, he was all the way back up to
fourth place. With the white flag out, he
passed Mitchell with style and went out after
Riehl in second but fell short by just a few
bikelengths.
Haberlock (1-1) won the Intermediate
class, with Riehl (3-2) in second, and Watts
(2·3) picked up third.

PORTLAND, OR, MAY 1
There was some awesome weather for the
second race of the year at Delta Park Raceway, and nearly 400 riders came out to take
advantage of it.
Brody Thom absconded with the holeshot
in the first 50cc (7·8) moto, but his lead was
short-lived, as PoJini rider Aaron Blaine
sneaked around him right away. They raced
along until the second lap, when Thom retook
the lead. They continued to fight it out far
ahead of the pack all the way to the checkers,
with Thorn taking the win a mere second
ahead of Blaine, and almost 15 seconds
ahead of the third-placed rider, Demarinibacked Coltin Scott.
Thorn once again snared the holeshot in
the second stanza, but Blaine got by him
before the second corner and raced away from
him like there was no tomorrow. Thom then
had to deal with Scott. John Laible and
Matthew Shirley, but after a few laps he was
clear of the pack. When the checkered flag
waved, the Moto Outfitters/MSR/Scott-spon·
sored Blaine had a 12-second lead over the
second-placed rider, Thom, and Scott in third.
Blaine got the overall victory with his 2-1
placings, while Thom (1-2) finished second
and Scott (3-3) was third. Laible (4-4) garnered fourth, and rounding out the top rive
was Trae Johnson (6-6).
Holeshot artist Alec Watts snared the lead
in the first combined 85cc Junior and Intermediate moto, but he lost it to the ever-quick
