Bradley Champion (40) leads Martin Musil (34) in the Lightweight Twins race at Nashville Superspeedway. Garber finally got by his brother Matthew to take third. George Gentle had this track dialed, as he jumped to the lead in the 750cc Superstock Novice race on his Suzuki of Canton GSX-R600. It was a three-man contest for second for the first few laps. At the halfway point, Matt Lynn established himself in second on the Michelin/Blaze Cycle Suzuki. Cale Swiger stayed close but had to settle for third on his Dunlop/Vesrah Suzuki. Durham was fourth. As local Tennessee hero Tray Batey took the lead in the 750cc Superstock Expert race on the Vesrah Suzuki, Moore and Jacobi went at it for second. Pirelli/Yesrah's Reuben Frankenfield and XT Racing/Outer Extremes' David Weber contested fourth. Aaron Risinger, on the Ytak Racing Suzuki, made up for a bad start and moved to seventh, behind Byron Barbour. As Batey stretched his lead, Moore took second, with Jacobi third. At the final flag, Batey took his third win in this class for the season. Moore finished second, with Jacobi third, Frankenfield fourth and Weber fifth. With the field of riders lined up for the warm-up lap in Heavyweight Twins, Batey parked his GSX-R750 and headed out on his Vesrah TL1000. At the start, three bikes ran together through the first set of tight corners, with Batey making the break down the back straight, while Brown and Champion contested second. In the Novice portion of this race, Paul Nesmith wasted no time charging into the lead. Marques followed on the Pirelli/Pit Bull SV, with Fred Bittner in third on the Fast By Ferracci Ducati. At the halfway point. Batey had a few seconds over second-placed Brown, on the Dunlop/Sharkskinz TL, with Champion in third on the Metzler/ Motul Aprilia 1000. Batey took his second win of the day, and Nesmith rode to victory in the Novice race on his Aprilia 1000. Gregory Moore charged to the lead in the 600cc Superbike Expert final on his GMD/Vortex Suzuki, with Eventual winner Matt Lynn (549) charges into the first comer in the 600cc Superstock Novice race, with Alan Durham (behind Lynn), Michael Elsass (3161, Eddie Robinson (465), Larry Dulaney and Cale Swiger (624) following. James Stroud and Greg Myers on his heels. Young Nicky Wimbauer was charging through the field on the Info Tech/Yalter Moto Yamaha R6. Moore had the race won by the halfway point. Wimbauer moved to third. At the final flag, it was Moore, Stroud and Wimbauer. As Larry Ray Dulaney, on his Pirelli/Pit Bull Honda, and Dan Montgomery, on the Lockhart/Phj(jps Honda, battled for second place in the Novice portion, Matt Lynn charged to the lead and never looked back on his Blaze Cycle Works/Suzuki of Canton GSX-R. Lynn took his second win of the day. "The bike was handling great," Lynn said afterward. "I was running Michelin tires and Thermonman suspension. I liked the race track; it is not that bad. I have been running 'parking-lot races' - this track is like racing parking lots." In the Formula Two race, there was some wheel-to-wheel action among the Experts and Novices. Dhane Marques challenged for the lead on his Pirelli/Pit Bull SV, with Brian Kcraget, on the NESBA.com/ Speed Werks Honda 125. Kcraget had the upper hand through the tight corners, while Marques powered down the long front straight. At the checkered flag, Kcraget won the overall, and Marques took the Novice win. Deggendorf was the second Expert, with Wuytack third. Jamie Eichler came in second among the Novices, and Thomas Williams took third. In the 750cc Superbike final, a few tight battles kept the spectators interested from the get-go. Experts Moore and Aaron Risinger, the latter on the Ytak Racing Suzuki, contested the lead. Moore had the infield covered, while Risinger had a little more horsepower down the front straight. Behind them, Wimbauer, on the R6, challenged Weber, on the XT Racing Suzuki. Bobby Miosek stayed close on the other Info Tech/Valter Moto R6, in fifth. Novice rider Gentle broke away from the Novice field to lead. Mike Coisman held second on the RECH Racing Suzuki, with Steve Green in third on the Cycle One Honda 600. Bittner, on the Ducati 996, battled with Doug Steele, on the Metro Cycles of Atlanta Suzuki. At the checkered flag, Moore took his second win of the day, while Gentle also took his second win of the day. "I like riding the 750 here," Moore said. "The 600 is okay, but the 750 is easy to maneuver in the turns, and it is quick down the straightaway." "I work at Suzuki of Canton," Gentle said, "and they let me take off to go racing. I got some big help from Michelin and Vesrah, and coaching from Mike Smith. I like this track. This is only my fourth race, so this track is okay." The final race of the day was America's only truly unlimited motorcycle race, the Pirelli Formula One race. Veteran racer Batey and firstyear Expert Moore were each going for their third win of the day. When Robert Jensen leads the 600cc Superstock Expert on his Yamaha R6. cue I e the green flag flew, Batey took the lead on the Vesrah Suzuki 750, with Moore second. Scott Brown was third on the Dunlop/Sharkskinz Yamaha R1, with Mark Crozier, on the No limits Cycle Honda 954, in fourth. On the third lap, Batey pulled out a twosecond lead over Moore, and Crozier moved by Brown to take third. At the halfway point, Moore moved to within one second of Batey, but he couldn't make up the ground. Although Moore was riding the 1000 with more horsepower, Batey was getting on the gas a few yards sooner out of the final chicane and hitting the front straight with more speed, and he won with a four-second advantage over Moore. "I love my TL - it is just working great," Batey exclaimed. "Whereas I work and work on my 750 - I really try to get the 750 to work good, because I know it is fast enough that it can hurt me. Our spares are a little low, so I ride the 750 in Formula One also.
