Texas Championship Summer SoSe Series
Round 2: Cycle Ranch MX Park
Fouchek Tops
a Full Class
MotorSport Ranch:
Troy Green (behind) was all over Michael Sanchez (15) going Into
the final lap of the Unlimited Gran Prix Expert race at round four of the
CMRA Championship Serles In Cresson, Texas_
Holleman on lap two for fourth, with Logan
Young in sixth and Marcus McBain, Jeremy
Keller and Ryan Andrews (riding an Aprilia
RS 125 against the big bikes) rounding out the
top nine.
Sanchez put a gap on the pack during the
fi·rst few laps, tuming in the fastest lap of the
day on lap three with a 1: 16.51 - a new track
record_ By midrace. he had put three seconds
on Green, who was still in second, and 47 seconds on Prussiano, who was riding an R6.
Green was pushing hard to make up for a
poor tire choice, and on lap five he made an
unexpected exit from the track, coming off of
the 100-mph double-right-handers on the
back of the track.
"The wind caught me and pushed me right
off the track," said Green_ "I was in a full lean at least 90 [mph] or SO - and I saw the white
line comin', so I picked it up and djd the dirttrack thing. I pulled back on, looking to make
sure I didn't kill anyone because I was obviously going slower, and then I put my head
down and went as hard as I could. I was basi·
cally willing to pitch it away in order to catch
him [Sanchezj and pass him."
Starting the eighth and final lap, Green had
pulled to within a bikelength of Sanchez. and
by mid lap he was atl over him going into the
esses known as "The Rattlesnake." Green got
a particularly good drive on the downhill
straight and made his move going into "Little
Bend," a hard right-hander after the fast
downhill that is considered the next·to-Iast
place to pass before the finish.
"I knew Troy was back there, waiting for
the last lap," said Sanchez of the encounter...,
knew he was sizing me up, and I knew he was
picking a comer, but I didn't know which corner, so I tried to run different lines during the
race. When we came into UttJe Bend, I knew
he was going to be coming. but I didn't know
he was going to be coming that hard_ He
came by me really. really hard on the brakes and as soon as he came by, I thought, 'Wow,
he must have just been chillin' out back there.'
but it turns out he just came in too hot and
almost went off the track."
The error allowed Sanchez back into the
lead going in to the next right·hander.
"I planned on going by him in Uttle Bend,"
said Green. "I had a drive on him, but he was
runnin' a midtrack line. By the time I got up
next to him. I was way further inside than I
usually am, and I lost my reference point, and
when I got on the brakes, I thought, 'Uh oh.'
Instead of pitchin' it, I went ahead and ran
wide. I knew he was comin' by."
Green's enthusiastic entrance had surprised Sanchez enough that the Suzuki rider
lost a little momentum when he regained the
lead, setting up still another attempt by Green
in the next right-hander.
"I figured I was going to try for one more
stuff," added Green, "but when I went through
the (nextl right-hander, it came around like it
was gonna highside, but I wasn't on the throttle_ I've never had anything like that happen in
my entire life. I was just sittin' there, hangin'
off the bike, and everything is draggin' in the
ground, and I thought 'Well, I've crashed.'"
After being pitched up over the windscreen, Green amazingly held on and rode it
out, deciding second place wasn't so bad
after all.
Sanchez cruised in for the hard-earned
win, with a subdued Green coming across the
line in second and Prussiano a way back in
third. Holleman came out on top of his racelong battle with Galindo for the fourth-place
position_ Logan Young put his GSX-R600 in
sixth, and Ryan Andrews made a heroic ride
to place seventh.

"points lead" status_
Kawasaki jockey Shea Fouchek from
Edinburg, Texas, was the one to beat, as he
spanked 39 other 125cc Novice pilots with a
consistent 2-2 moto score. However, his victory was not an easy one, as there were several
riders capable of winning the overall on that
day. First-moto winner Austin M.iIIer looked
like he would be the dominant rider, but he
didn't come out for the second moto, giving
him a DNF on the day. Blake Cochran took
third in moto one, followed by Weston McCulloch, Miles Moore, Justin Thomas, Rusty Moffitt, Catlin Eversole, H. McMillan and Adam
Kirchner.
The second-moto holes hot went to
Fouchek, followed closely by McMillan,
Thomas, Kirchner and Blain Swisher. Fouchek
managed to hold off McMillan for a couple of
laps but had to settle for second, because the
moto belonged to the Suzuki-mounted McMil-
Ian. Thomas finished third, with Cochran and
Kirchner rounding out the top five.
Fouchek also placed third in the alwaysaggressive Schoolboy class, with. 3-3 tally.
Honda pilot Ronny Jackson won the class via
• 1-1 score. and McMillan took second with a
4-2 tally_ McCulloch (6-4) was fourth. and
Kirchner (7-5) w.s fifth.
Another huge class was the 80cc Beginner
cl2Iss, with 38 riders on the gate. Baron
Schultz controlled every I.p, posting flawless
1- 1 mota finishes_ Yamaha rider Mason Guin
finished second on a 2-2 tally. while Kawas.ki-mounted Tyler Alore took third with.
3-3 score. Tod Maclin (6-5). Amold Piontkowski (5-6), Shane Samas (4-7). Andrew
