I don't know, I tried, got fifth that's better than sixthl I didn't get a very good jump; I was on the very InsJde, so I got squeezed off. The 6rst three laps was just havoc. Everyone was just slamming each other. It was pretty scary, but it was fun, though." (Above) Mlcu.1 Byrne 132) came back from a broken thumb and finished a really strong third, while Tedesco 152) grabbed second. This time, Hansen came from seventh to finish a respectable fourth. "I didn't puD out a good start," Hansen said. "I just rode my butt off. I made it up, got right on Byrne, and I passed Brown. It was a reaDy big confidencebuilder for me. I just kind of wussed out at the end about getting Byrne, but 1settled for fourth. It's a good learning experience, and 1expect to do really good in the Nationals,. I'm stoked. I just got to get a good start." 7J0 7J Kevin Johnson 1] ®~ Billy Laninovlc:h 10th The Star Racing Yamaha rider would've Uked to have had a better start, but the younger brother of Keith R. Johnson squeaked into the top 10. "It was pretty good race," Johnson said. "I proceeded to have a pretty good battle with Sellards for a little while, and then Laninovich caught up to me. I went back and forth with him, and he ended up getting the better of me, and 1finished 10th. That was pretty much my goal tonight, and I'm pretty happy with that. I didn't do anything stupid or throw myself on the ground, so it was a good night. It's a bummer Bubba went down - it's a scary deal." 9th The Red Bull KTM rider just didn't have the best of nights. Laninovlch was forced to qualify for the main event through the LCQ after haVing crashed in his heat race. In the main, Laninovich, who had one of the last gate picks, had a poor start, rounding the 6rst lap in 15th place. The Boost Mobile/Yamaha/Troy Racing rider won his heat race and started off up front in the main event. Sellards went from fourth to ninth and was able to get only oDe of those positions back before aU was said and done. that he went off on one of the triples. After that I had no idea; I thought he was still coming. I was trying my hardest 'til about lap 10. I didn't see very many people behind me, and I backed it down. You know, everybody says - I've heard Chad Reed say how easy it was [to win]. Surprisingly, I've worked so hard sometimes and have just gone backwards. Tonight, everything just seemed to click, so ... When I saw the white flag, I was so pumped. I thought, 'One more lap. I can do this easy.' This is awesome - Tedesco started off in eighth and methodically worked his way up through the pack, passing riders such as his teammate Hansen, Amsoil/ Chaparral/Honda's Gosselaar, Chevy Trucks/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki's Brown, and Gosselaar's teammate Byrne. Tedesco eventually got around Brown, who faded back, for second on the eighth lap and held that position to the finish. "Tonight was crazy," Tedesco said. "People were wrecking all over the place. Bubba had a spectacular wreck. I hope he's all right. Tonight awesome." While Short cruised up front, there was a lot going on not too far behind him. Riders were passing each other back and forth, but the one rider who was making the best progress was Tedesco on the Boost Mobile/Yamaha/Troy Racing YZ125. we had to ride smooth and not get all crazy. I didn't get the greatest start and came through the pack and made some smart passes for second." I wanted to stay on the bike and wanted to get through Las Vegas and stay injury free and be ready for next week. I just got the flu, and my asthma was bothering me - I wasn't myself out there. I was just trying my hardest, n.ever gave up.' 00 Bull KTM'sBoniface the main event was a short one.
