Bremen Race Park
Lyle, Dashing
Through That Dirt
By FAT BJUY
BREMEN, GA, APR. 12
Awesome dirt. That is Bremen's claim to
fame. Several inches of rain during the week
prior to round five of Moto·Madness action
had everyone wondering, but the crew at Bremen got the job done, and that dirt was ready
to race on.
The largest class of the evening provided
some of the best racing. Local rider Darrell
Fricks got on his Yamaha and did business in
the BOce Beginner class. Honda rider Brad
Hammett came over from Alabama to earn
second-place honors. Kawasaki jockey Drew
Carter scored two third-place finishes for the
final podium position.
In the aocc (12- 15) event, Honda rider
Travis Laird was long gone for the top spot
with two first-place finishes. Yamaha guys
Brell Barrow and Chris Hollingsworth swapped
finishing positions; Barrow was second overall
because his best moto was the last one.
Hollingsworth put in a good effort for third.
The 125cc Beginners put on quite a show.
Kawasaki jockey Greg Peterson was on his
game on this night, winning both motos with
no problem. Kawasaki man Kenny Hicks
made second place his own, and Joseph
McGullian used the last mota to snatch the
last podium spot. Each year, the Beginner
class turns out some fast riders, and so far this
year is off to a good start.
The 250cc A class had some new players
on this night. Dash Lyle of RHS Racing was
breaking in a new Honda CR250. In each
moto, he was gone! Lyle took the corners
beyond fast, and his double-jumping of the
two small tabletops was impressive. Kawasaki
rider Randy Thomas topped the Yamahamounted Michael Graham in the second mota
for second place overall, and Graham held on
for third. Keep your eye on Lyle as the racing
heats up.
The old men came to race in the Over 35
class. Yamaha pilot Joel Sewell won both
motos with no problem. Rick Lindell took sec·
ond in the first moto, but a major soil sample
in the second race allowed Mike Henderson to
move into second overall. Yamaha·mounted
Martin Home ended up third after Lindell went
down. The good news was that Lindell was
okay; he said he would do better if he rode
more often than every five months.
Mota-Madness is off to a great start. If
someone wants to avoid the summer heat, he
should try racing under the lights. Another
good, safe evening of racing was had by ail;
no one caused the ambulance to move all
night, so all was good at Bremen.
