The BlueMoto/Jeff Wyler team won its first endurance race in the Heavyweight Superstock class. Superstock class. Leading in the Lightweight Superbike class was SV Performance, which was running in 14th on the track. During the second hour of racing, the action heated up in the Lightweight Superbike class. Tight Squeeze II move into the lead in the class, with their teammates Tight Squeeze lone lap down. SV Performance was now in third in class. When Team Chicago pitted for gas, Ricochet Racing and JLR Racing moved to ninth and 10th. At the halfway point, six of the Middleweight Superstock bikes were in the top 12. Mark Junge, on the Vesrah Suzuki, continued leading, with Army of Darkness in second and Team Xtreme in third. Team Xtreme II ran off the track on their 750cc Suzuki in tum five, and this put them out of the race. BlueMoto/Jeff Wyler took over the lead in the Heavyweight Superstock class. With another change of riders in the Superstock classes, things became interesting on the track. BlueMoto/Jeff Wyler got by Team Info Tech/Valter Moto to take fifth, while Neighbor of the Beast moved to seventh. Phil Caudill, on the Team Chicago R6 Yamaha, charged to get back in the top 10. Vesrah Suzuki ran flawlessly and continued to lead, with Army of Darkness second and Team Xtreme third. Team Velocity continued on in fourth. Deal Gap Racing took over second place in the Lightweight Superbike class while Tight Squeeze II led. Disaster struck Team Info Tech during the last hour. Maybe the members of this team from Colorado are environmentalists and thought they could run for four hours on this stopand-shoot track with organic brake pads, but they found out that the metal backing plates did not work to slow down their Yamaha R6. They had to pit and replace the front brake pads and dropped to 16th. Velocity the four hours of this race. Jacobi was asked about the 2003 GSX-Rl000. "Now that I have rode both bikes back to back," he responded, "definitely the 2003 is a better bike than last year's. It was a flawless race, and the bike just kept on going." Army of Darkness again played bridesmaid but beat every other team on their 600cc Suzuki. This week, it was the other Team Xtreme, on the 1000cc Suzuki, who ran third, making the natives of Georgia proud. Running fourth and first in the Middleweight Superstock class was another team from Georgia, Team Velocity Racing. Mark Crozier of Army of Darkness said he didn't like the track when he first rode it in practice on Friday. "It's a good track; it turned really well," Crozier said. "As usual, the bike was awesome; it just keeps running like a train - it just keeps going around and around." Steven Breckinridge of Team Velocity Racing said this was his first time to the track since 2000. "It was a lot of fun," Breckinridge said. "There wasn't a lot of traffic. It was a good race." Taking the win in Heavyweight Superstock was Jeff Muskopf of BlueMotol Jeff Wyler. "The trick for being successful is having good riders and setting up the suspension so you don't use up the tires," Muskopf said. "If you turn good, competitive lap times, you should be there at the end." eN Carolina Motorsports Park Kershaw, South Carolina Results: April 12, 2003 (Round 21 Crew Racing got by Neighbor of the Beast to take sixth. Team Chicago moved to ninth and stayed ahead of the charging Fritz Kling on the Taylor Knapp-Ray C's Racing R6. With just about every bike in the Lightweight Superbike class spending extra time in the pits, Martin Musil, charging at the end, passed two teams on the last lap to win this competitive class on the Tight Squeeze IJ Suzuki SV 650. "I liked the racetrack," Martin said. "Even though I went off the track and spent time in the pits replacing the rear tire, I kept pushing it until I got to the front in our class." For the second race of this new season, Vesrah Suzuki was up front at the checkered flag. Their flawless performance over the last few years has been great, and their support for the other teams in this series sets them above all others. Former championship teams never offered free oll to their competitors, or free haircuts.
