BY ALAN BECHARD SEQUATCHIE, TN, MAR. 29-30 The first-ever Trials Training Days sponsored by the Trials Training Center, and Ryan Young Products and Sherco USA, proved to be a huge success for everyone involved. More Charlie Roberts and Steve Gilinski; and former National champ Curt Comer, along with numerous other top riders and instructors. There were two instructors l'It each section, and each student received group and indjvidu· alized training and attention. Each skill was fully explained and demonstrated. Then there was ample time for each rider to work on his personal objectives and get plenty of one-onone time with instructors. Riders of all skill levels were accommodatriders, hosted by RYP/Sherco USA-sponsored champ rider Brad Villand. He worked patiently with this aspiring group of young riders. He was so popular with the kids that they demanded his return on Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, there was an informal Freestyle festival with the champ riders that wowed the onlookers. This was followed by the Fat Boy Freestyle contest and the bikers' limbo. After a barbecue dinner, there were classes on bike maintenance and setup. Peters demonstrated how to set up a bike for competition, and Brad Baumert revealed the inner secrets of a trials bike engine. On Sunday there were more class sessions throughout the day. At noon there was a special break, and the champ riders put on a hillclimb demonstration that had all the spectators gasping in amazement. After the maintenance courses the night before, the crew in the RYP pit tent was busy, working with riders on all brands of motorcycles. Everything from simple dutch-lever adjustments to suspension setup and tuning was done at no charge. The "crash of the weekend" award went to STRA president Ron Milam, whose overzealous "ZAP" in the log area found him flat on his back at the end! Participants came from as far away as Texas and New York. Everyone had an exceptional time, and many were making plans to attend next year's event. Wendy Roberts, manager of TTC, said, "We want to thank everyone for coming and making this event successful and fun!" eN 82 APRIL 23. 2003' cue I EO BIIlTllDATEI •••• January 16, 1965 REslDENCEI •• Cooper City, Florida • • • • • His Kids, Mountain Biking, Basketball OntER 11IITE1lESTS1 MDTGRCYCLEI • • • • • • • • • Suzuki SPONSORSI ••••• Dunlop, Suzuki.
