On the Brother John Racing-sponsored Honda, Hutto captured the holeshot and led until midway, with Stokes hot on his heels. After several lead changes, Stokes took the win. The Senior (Over 45) B contest was a battle of local talent, as Speedy Davis wrestled the OldSouthTractor.com-backed Honda past the "Neeses Flash: Art Dent, for the win. In the Vintage 250cc event, Hutto, on the Star Plates by Fuzzy-backed Honda, grabbed the holeshot and held it to the checkered flag for the win. Brow, the resilient old Pro, piioted his Honda to the checkered flag, leading from start to finish in the Open Pro main event. Young local rider Justin Davis got the holeshot and the lead in the 125cc and never looked back en route to the win. In both the Vintage Pre-1974 and '70s Singles Open events, Frank Mclane. on the Monticello Farms-backed BSA, worked his way through traffic to get the checkered flag. In the Senior (Over 50) 250cc contest. a very determined Honda rider, Vern Morton, traded the lead back and forth with Jay Bender. Morton took the win. In 50-60cc action, Allison Durden piloted her Swainsboro F1attrack-sponsored Kawasaki to the win. Charlie Sabatka Jr. launched his Honda off the line and was never challenged for the win in the 200cc Four-Stroke class. Tracy Clements outdistanced the 250cc field for the win. eye I e PERRIS, CA, MAR. 22 This was ROTMX's first race at Starwest since the track was redesigned, and it certainly met with the approval of all 51 enthusiastic memo bers, who put on quite a show while enjoying a great day of competition on the nicely prepared track. Master rider Steve Donaldson burst out with great speed and led the fast action untii Greg Fountain found his way past on lap two. Fountain continued on in great haste and outraced them all to the finish. Dave Eropkin started in the middle of the pack but quickly worked his way into the second spot, which he held to the finish. Kirk Bassett put out lots of power and took the third-place slot. Kurt Sofka Jr. had the holeshot all figured out in moto two and also had designs on the winning ticket - which he grabbed. Eropkin had his spacing and pacing just perfect for another second·place win· which luckily added up to an overall win. Michael Neal ripped across in third. Soaring is obviously not boring for Dave Vicioso, as he spectacularly flew around the Starwest circuit lap after lap, racking up both Over 40 Expert wins. Mike Brinkley did some very fast racing and chased Vicioso in with second place both times out. Mark Speck made a very strong showing with his two fastmoving and grooving third-place finishes. Newly promoted to the Over 50 Experts, Philip Cruz left no doubt that this is where he belon9s by putting in two awesomely fast motos and taking top honors. W.G. Wilson came on strong in both races and finished that way, too, wrapping up second place in both outings. Results 40.. NOV: 1. ThomllS Ortiz (Yllm); 2. Todd Laser (Hen); 3. Cam Cameron (Hen): 4. Despite lots of rain, the Kelly boys did it again with a perfect, loamy racing surface. The 125cc Beginner class is going the same direction as it did last season, with the speed increasing as the riders gain experience. Yamaha pilot Adam Free flew to the overall win, though Kawasaki jockeys Alec Bryant and Kris Lemaster kept him pushing hard. In the 250cc Beginner class, Kawasaki rider Lemaster topped Honda rider Jeff Dowda. Suzuki pilot Joey Godfrey finished a strong third. One thing that these young men don't have to learn is how good the podium feels after a night of great racing. Clayton Henderson enjoyed another pair of wins on his Freewheeling Honda. The 125cc C class was Henderson territory, and Chris Castle and Bobby Scogins teamed up to complete the first all-red podium of the evening, with the Hondas looking strong. The Minis were getting it done this evening. KTM-mounted Brady Moreland showed the way in the 50cc Open class. Kyle Russell put his Cobra in second to keep the podium from being a KTM sweep, as Kyle Hurston put his Katoom in the third spot. Blake Sellers took first-place honors in the 50cc (7-9) event, and Husky man Travis Horton finished ahead of Russell to break the otherwise all-Cobra finishing order. Yamaha-mounted Chris Hollingsworth controlled the 80cc (12- 15) event, but Cory Dowda (apparently fully recovered from last year's shoulder injury) put his Suzuki in second. Brett Barrow of the Yamaha camp finished third, keeping Cory honest. The Supermini 80-105cc class was also ruled by Hollingsworth. Barrow took second. ahead of Yamaha rider Jeremy Pendley making for the first all-blue podium of the evening. In the older age classes. LSD Racing's Mike Henderson topped the Over 30 and Over 35 classes. Yamaha rider Alex Davies was second in the Over 30 division, ahead of Honda rider Russ Castle. Staniey Dowda rode his Honda to second place in the Over 35 race, ahead of Yamaha-mounted Martin Horns. As the lights went out at Bremen, another great night of racing came to an end. Once again, the ambulance didn't move, and all the spills were minor. Fun racing with friends, no injuries, and there's still Sunday to go riding what a good weekend.
