CMC Copperstate Classic Motocross Championship Series Round 3: Thrasher/and MX Park MllteLynch topped the Over 30 Juniors ft round three "! the CMC Copperstate Classic MX Series. STORY AND PHOTOS BY ROBERT VAN DAMME GLENDAlE,AZ, MAR. 29 ike Lynch took the overall in the Over 30 Junior class at round three of the CMC Copperstate Classic MX Series, presented by Franklin £, Associates, FMF, Bent, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda. As of this round, the rest of the series will be run under the lights. Bryan Allen, Cole Martinez and Brent Davey all came away with overall wins, in the 250cc Pro, 65cc (9-] 1) and 125cc Junior classes, respectively. At the start of the first Over 30 Junior moto, Lynch got out front, followed by David Wick, Kevin Reilly and Kelly Olson. As the pack came through the infield, Olson moved by Reilly for third. Wick stumbled on the north side, letting Olson by for second. Kevin Gorski moved around Reilly for fourth. On the final lap, Gorski passed Wick in the infield for third. Olson came inside in the last corner, bumping Lynch from the rear, but Lynch was able to hold on for the moto win. "I was very lucky," said the Cycle Zone-sponsored Lynch, "because I was having trouble with the corners feeling slick." Olson was second. Then came Gorski, Wick and Brent Edwards. In the second moto, Olson had the lead over Lynch, with Gorski sitting back in third. On the final lap, Lynch drove into the left-hander and bumped Olson, but Olson managed to stay M ahead of Lynch as the two came into the final corner, a right-hander. Then Olson went wide, letting Lynch squeeze underneath for the moto win. "It was like deja vu, only in reverse," said Lynch. "I could not believe Olson left the door open. When I tried to go inside of Olsen in the lefthander, I think Olson went faster in the to take the lead. Ryan Robinson passed Davey on the north side for second. Then came Derek Geiser, Nasser and Brandon Griffin. On lap two, Robinson had the inside position going into the right-hander, and he passed Strippleman for the lead. With one lap remaining, Strippleman went too fast into turn one and went wide, letting Davey pass on the inside. Robinson kept looking back to see where Davey was as they came through the infield. Two corners from the finish, Davey passed Robinson on the inside for the lead. Davey won the moto, over Robinson. Strippleman was third, followed by Clay Higgins, Nasser and Griffin. Robinson was again leading in the second moto, and again Davey was the pursuer. Robinson went down in the drop-off and would not finish the moto. Davey cruised in for the win, followed by Higgins, Nasser, Kevin Thomas and D.C. Jones. eN Riddle. Then came Stevenson, McMullen, Scism and Campbell. In the second moto, McMullen pulled the holeshot, followed by Stevenson, Allen, Riddle and Scism. Riddle retired after the first lap. Allen passed Stevenson on the west side for second. Over the next few laps, McMullen and Allen picked up the pace, pulling away from Stevenson. On lap five, McMullen was alone coming down Bent Hill, after a miscue by Allen on the back side. McMullen cruised in for the moto win, with Allen, Stevenson, Campbell, Nagai and Scism rounding out the field. As the first 65cc (9-11) moto got started, Dillon Huddleston was out in front, followed by Martinez, Trey Adamson, Austin Burns and Drake Hallock, but Martinez appeared first as they returned over Bent Hill. On lap two, Burns came alongside Adamson at the step-up jump and made the pass for third going into turn two. Huddleston regained the lead, making the pass just behind the hill over Martinez. Adamson went down in the switchbacks and would finish seventh. On the final lap, Martinez passed Huddleston and held on for the moto win. Third went to Burns. Then came Hallock, Ruben Rodriguez and Ethan Morin. Tbrasherland MX Park 61endale, Arizona Results: March 29, 2003 [Round 31 P/W BEG: I. AustIn Lowe (KTM); 2. John Humphrey (Pol); 3.
