Johnson also pulled off a come· from- behind win in the first 250cc Pro moto. Among the 12-rider field, Johnson got squeezed off at the tight, off-camber left-hander at the end of the start straight and once again clawed his way through the field for the win. Moto two went much better, as his holeshot ensured all the racing would occur behind him. KTM pilot Paul Temmerman put together a pair of solid rides, which included the first-moto holeshot, and his 2-2 efforts earned him second on the day, followed by Beau Baron (3-3), Dieter Temmerman (4-4) and Blevins (7 -7). Tim Crenshaw put the hurt on the 125cc and 250cc Novice classes, as he aced all four of his motos. Despite the whooped-out condi- tions, the Fortuna resident displayed his sand prowess and left no doubt at the checkers in each of his motos. In 80cc Novice action, Joel Fittro took on a 13·rider field and came away with wins in both motos. With conditions that much tougher on the smaller machines, those who could handle a lot of time standing on the pegs fared well.
