Villopoto was in a league of his own, giving everyone a preview of how the March Nationals might shape up. Behind him, Grantom made his move on Lemoine for third and set out after Cunningham. Grantom made his move after the whoops in the woods before he came around to pick up the white flag, settling into second, behind Villopoto. Cunningham had third locked up until a last-lap mistake dropped him back to fifth, where he would finish. This moved Lemoine and Hackley into third and fourth, respectively. Villopoto's 1·J finishes gave him the over· all. Lemoine's 4-3 score edged out the 3-4 efforts of Hackley for second overall. After placing eighth in the first mota, Grantom's second·place second·moto ride secured fourth overall, and Cunningham rounded out the top five. Visit us online at www.usamx.com Blake Cochran took the holeshot in the first mota of 125cc Novice action, ahead of the Honda of Lake Charles-sponsored Clancy Benton. Matt Mann quickly moved into third. Mann set after Benton right away, moving into second before the end of the first lap. Benton went down on the second lap, losing several positions. Ahead of Benton, Mann hit the dirt as well, dropping one position and moving Mike Harvey into second. Mann made another mistake on the third lap and lost more time to the leaders, moving Jonathan Fikaris and Tyler Schultz into third and fourth, respectively. At the finish, it was Cochran, ahead of Har· vey. The race for third went all the way to the checkered flag, with Fikaris edging out Schultz to pick up the spot. Devin Blackburn rounded out the top five. Cochran once again took the holeshot in mota two, with Mann and Chris Cason in tow. Sammamish, Washington's Mann moved into the lead at the end of the first lap. ahead of Cochran, Schultz and Justin Pulsifer. H. McMillan was coming through the pack, set- tling into fifth briefly before passing Pulsifer for fourth. McMillan was working his way closer to Schultz's rear fender, but time was running out. Whatever problems Mann had in the first mota were obviously resolved, as he opened up a large eight-second lead over Cochran. Mann took the second-mota win, going 6·1 on the day for second overall. Cochran's '-2 tally was still good enough for first overall. Schultz's 4·3 scores gave him third overall, ahead Jonathan Taylor (7-5).
