Deschutes County Expo Center: Landon Currier scored five overall wins at the third annual Northwest Supercross Amateur Championships in Redmond, Oregon. by Jordan Mitchell (4-4), Tyler Schwentker (5-5) and Steward (6-7) in the 20-rider class. redesigned, the dirt and obstacles of Motocross of Marion County held up very well. The father/son duos of the Albertsons and Mamulas heated up the track on this cold wintry day. Tyler and Steve Albertson won three classes combined: Tyler won the SOcc A and 50cc Modified classes, while his father, Steve, won the Over 35 C class. Jim and Nathan Mamula both raced the Woods class, and they came in first and second, respectively. Michael Miller and Tyler battled for the lead in the SOcc Modified class. Miller led early in the first moto, but Tyler got by and led to the finish. Miller stayed close to keep Tyler honest. Tyler also won moto two, with Miller in second. Dallas Blake beat out his brother Branson for the tie breaker in mota two. Tyler also won both motos of the combined 50cc A, Band C contest. Steve got out front in both Over 35 C motos to take the overall. Following the KTM rider in second was close rival Buddy Martin. Todd Hunt, Rob Garrett and Keith Walpole finished third through fifth in both motos. In the Woods class, Jim and Nathan battled for the lead. Nathan stalled in the first moto. handing his father, Jim, the win. Nathan tried to come back in mota two, but Jim was just too much for him, taking another moto win. Hunter Harbin led early in the first combined 65cc B/C moto. Matt Johnson was second. followed by Uam Eller, who motored into the lead along the woods over the double. That was the last anyone saw of Eller, as he motored away with the win. Johnson held second. Harbin raced with Cody Bruce and Taylor Ditzlan for third. Ditzl.n was third by lap two. Then Ditzlan caught and passed Johnson for second. Harbin finally lost fourth to Bruce. Eller shot into the lead in mota two to take another convincing win, over Johnson. Ditzlan won the C class, over Tyler Albertson. Craig Johnson jumped out front in the Over 30 class, ahead of Eric Priest, but Priest passed Craig after the halfway mark. Priest pulled away a little, while Patrick Caiazza pressured Craig for third. Caiazza passed Craig and set out after Priest. Caiazza caught and passed Priest on the last lap. Craig finished ahead of Brent Driscoll, and Jared Johnston rounded out the top five. Craig pulled another holeshot in moto two. Priest was hot on his tail. Craig led until, with a couple of laps to go, the rear end slid sideways coming out of a comer, allowing Priest by. Craig kept the pressure on. Caiazza made it a three-way battle for the lead, and the trio finished less than two seconds apart. Deschutes County Expo Center Redmond, Oregon Results: February 7-8, 2003 Friday P/W (3·6): I.
