AUGUST 29, 1990
Steve Morehead won the Hagerstown Half Mile 30 years ago and was
featured on the cover of Cycle News... We covered the AMA National
Motocross at Millville, where Jeff Stanton (500cc) and Mike LaRocco
(125cc) came away with the overall wins... Wayne Rainey won the 500cc
GP in Sweden. Eddie Lawson was second and Wayne Gardner was
third; Kevin Schwantz crashed out... Jeff Dement and Jeremy McGrath
were the big winners at Ponca City...
American Donny Schmit clinched
the 125cc Motocross World
Championship in Portugal.

Bubba Stewart, wearing those alien looking "Over the Top" Oakley
sunglasses, was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago for being
one of the top riders at Loretta Lynn's. He tied Ricky Carmichael's nine Loretta
Lynn's Championships and still had another year to go. Other championship
winners included Horizon Award winner Ben Riddle, Josh Lichtle, Ronnie
Tichenor, Johnny Marley and Billy Laninovich... Max Biaggi won the
Czech Grand Prix, taking the checkered flag six seconds clear of Valentino
Rossi... Mike Brown won the 125cc MXGP in Luxembourg.
