SOMETIMES WHAT PROTECTS YOU THE MOST IS MADE OF PAPER. _11-' _ _ _ _ _ _ _ClII ...._ ......... _ar__ Ct..UIL Ct..atMIlI Sunset Tavern and Marina Hahn, the Khan of Koshkonong BY DAN SCHMITT FORT ATKINSON, WI, JAN. 25 The ice conditions at the Sunset T avem and Marina on Lake Koshkonong near Fort Atkinson were perfect for the second Saturday Night Under The Lights race. The colder weather during the week increased the thick· ness of the ice to 1 I inches. During the heat races, it became apparent the ice conditions in turns three and four were getting rough. as a few of the bikes went down in those corners. Brad Taylor crashed in the Open Pro heat and was unable to start in either of the two finals he'd entered. Jerry "Mr. Ice" Westhouse ran away in the Over 50 class on his 450cc Honda. Bob Smith edged out Mike Dugan at the line for second. In the Vintage (Pre-1980) class, Bryce Jacobs beat Dugan to the checkered flag. Triumph twin rider Dan Luchon ran third. The previous week's winner, Brandon Grif· fith, got the holeshot and led the first two laps of the 125cc/200cc final but went down in the infamous turn three. and Brock Schwarzenbacher had an easy ride to victory. Jake Kaiser finished second, and Ben Rader was third. Eric Johnson borrowed Lance Wollin's 450cc Yamaha to run his first ice race of the season; he went on to win the Over 40 Amateur final. Ken Hall beat Jeff Wehrli for second at the line. Dealer & Distributor Inquiries .. -----------------------------------------------1~~~ ~~R o YES!
