Fox and Wilson took the outside jump, and both went by Bantum. Wilson and Fox were battling behind Lafone; Wilson went under Fox to take third, behind Lafone. Wilson jumped a little too far and caught Lafone's back tire and went down. Fox and Bantum quickly went by Wilson. Fox went to work behind Lafone and went by for the second spot, behind Goforth, who was oblivious to what was going on behind him. Wilson was slow to get up, but he did finish the race. Goforth took first in the second mota, followed by Fox, Lafone, Bantum, Neuens and Wilson. Fox took first overall with a 1-2 punch; Lafone took second with a 2-3 tally; Goforth (5-1) had to accept third; Bantum (4-4) was a solid fourth; and Wilson (3-6) hung on to fifth. In the 50cc Open class, Corey Callahan took the holeshot but was quickly passed by Jordan Smith and Adam Bowen. They were followed by Cody Griffin, Matthew Wedding and Bryce Mullis. Bowen took off in the lead, with Smith right behind him. Griffin made the pass on Callahan to take over third. At the white flag, Griffin was pushing Smith to keep up the fast pace. Griffin ran out of time and had to settle for third, behind Smith. Griffin didn't make the same mistake twice; he took second in the second moto to get second overall, behind Bowen (1-1). Smith took third overall, followed by Callahan and Tyler Young. Waldo Motorsports Park Miller Great at Waldo, Peppers 'em with Roost By CRAIG JOHNSON WALDO, FL, JAN. 12 The Florida Trail Riders Series visited the beautiful track in Waldo, Florida. for round five of this 10-race series. The day started off unseasonably cold but warmed nicely by midafternoon. A total of 254 riders were on hand. making this the largest turnout since the track opened last June. One rider who peppered his opponents with roost and put a humn' on 'em at Waldo Motorsports Park was Michael Miller. The Husky rider took one mota win in the SOcc B and 50cc Modified classes to take those overall class wins. In the first 50cc Modified mota, Miller trailed points leader Tyler Albertson to the checkered flag. Branson Blake took third, over Robbie Kerr. Miller tumed the tables in moto two, taking the win over Albertson. Miller closed the points gap to 15 with five races left. Dallas Blake beat out his sibling Branson, and Kerr rounded out the top five. In the 50cc B class, Miller took the first mota over Dallas and Cody Merrick. In mota two, Merrick tumed up the wick and took the win. Miller followed him home in second to take the overall, while Dallas dropped to third. After round four, Miller and Merrick were tied in points. After trailing early in the series, Miller has now taken command in the points battle by three points. The only other rider to win two classes on the day was Cody Neff. In the largest class of the day, the Yamaha pilot took both motos in the 125cc C class. Trailing Neff in the first mota were Bobby Brady and Michael Hall. Brady and Hall scuffled for second in mota Results 50 SHAFT: I. Jordan Smith: 2. RyAn Rellvis: 3. Aaron Kiesler and Chas Benesh each moved up one spot in mota two, and the fourth-placed rider from mota one, Nathan Mamula, finished well back in the pack. Points leader Justin Williams had an off day, finishing eighth. Neff outlasted the riders in both 125cc Youth (12-15) motos. Nick McClain followed in second in the first moto, l'JIhead of Williams, and Jonathan Canto beat out Benesh for fourth. McClain suffered a DNF in mota two, while Williams and Canto moved up to second and third to round out the podium. Maynard Patterson took the 250cc C-c1ass overall without winning a mota. Beau Craft won the first moto, over Chris Johnson. Patterson trailed the two riders in third, and Joe Ott and Tommy Hunt rounded out the top five. Mota two was a nail-biter to the end, and no one could tell who would take the overall. After a terrible first mota, Joel Gregor was leading the second moto. Patterson was second, ahead of Ott and Craft. Patterson needed to stay ahead of the battle for third to get the overall, while all Craft needed to do was pass Ott for the overall. In the end, the top four finished in that order, while Johnson dropped to fifth. Results P/W OIL·INJ: I. Mkhael Kerr (Yam): 2. ft'uItthew Powell (Yam): 3. Zachary 8ler (Yam). ;0 A: 1.
