Racing the Over 30 class on a new Honda. he showed the other racers no mercy. After nailing the holeshot, Emig took the rest of the class to school and showed them where the checkered flag was. Jack Lambert tried to put a charge on Emig early in the race, but his Yamaha got a little squirrelly in the whoops and he lost too much time. Another Yamaha pilot. Shawn Stiiwell, got around Lambert for second. Lambert held on to third, with Hondamounted Trevor Halfmann and Yamaha· mounted Rob Rawlins in tow. With the inside line off the start, Andy Hammond pitted his Yamaha against Brandon Sorrell's Honda in the 250cc Intermediate class. Bar to bar going into the first turn (which resembled a fiat track), they battled their way through the course. Hammond came out on top, with Sorrell in second. Nick Blatt, Chad Westbrook and Troy Wahlberg followed them in on their Yamahas. In the 125cc Beginner class, Ronnie Morgan got the jump off the gate on his Honda but was quickly put in second place by Kawasaki jockey Aaron Garcia, who had a better line going through the first turn. After a short battle, Garcia took the win. Travis Glodowski claimed second on his Yamaha, and Morgan finished third. Suzuki jockey Tyler Thomas and Yamaha rider Chris Vandal rounded out the top five. Suzuki jockey Scotty Wennerstrom took the holeshot in the 85cc (12-15) class, with a cue' e n e vv s FEBRUARY 5, 2003 59
