CMC Northwest Winter Series Round 6: Forster Livestock Pavilion qualified him for a spot in the following week's Spectro Oils Challenge, as Terlecki won both motos to capture the top money. Williams trailed Terlecki both times out and, by virtue of an earlier win in the Before The Hill class, also became one of the riders to make the Spectro Oils Challenge grid. McLain got the best of Sannan in the second 250cc Junior-class moto and garnered the overall win, followed by Sannan, Yamaha-mounted Anthony Keel, Shane Cook and Jon Sherriffs. Possibly the best racing of the night was the closely contested Supermini class. Yamaha rider Aaron McClinton and Kawasaki jockey Gared Steinke spent most of both motos in side-by-side confrontation. McClinton, who just turned 14 years old, held the upper hand in the first moto and narrowly beat Steinke at the finish. Moto two, however, was Steinke's, and he scored the overall win - complementing his earlier aocc (12-13) win and making him one of the few double-class winners of the evening. STORY AND PHOTOS BV CLAV LIGHT SALEM, OR, DEC. 20·21 n uring two consecutive nights of l:7 racing at Forster Livestock Pavil· ion, nationally ranked Northwesterners Ryan Terlecki and Jason McCormick gave the competition the boot at round six of the CMC North· west Winter Series. Terlecki, who had not raced competitively since the Washougal 125/250cc National earli· er in the year, topped Friday's 250cc Pro class. McCormick, who this year carries the National number 76, made the trek down from Vancouver, Washing' ton, payoff with a pair of dividends: Not only did the Honda rider take home the top money in Saturday's 250cc Pro class, he also threw his hat into the ring of Professional riders to have qualified for the upcoming S1500 Spectro OilsjVP Fuels Pro·Am Challenge race. McCormick's Satur· day win was by no means an easy task, as a horde of top Northwest Pro riders were also on hand, including Oregon's Tiger Lacey. On Friday, Terlecki, who sports the National number 97, was the top performer in the 250cc Pro class, handily winning both motos. Local rider Matt Williams was Terlecki's closest competition, although the for· mer minicycle champion was no match for Terlecki in either moto. The only close action came in a bat· tie behind the lead duo, between Yamaha four· stroke pilots Jeremy McLain and Jake Sannan. Sannan rode a rapid pace to narrowly edge McLain for the top spot in the 250cc Junior class. Moto two was also Terlecki's; the win by the rider from nearby Silverton before yielding to Travis, Lytle and Nick Randklev. Randklev trailed McMackin overall in the Before The Hill class. McCormick's Forster Livestock Pavilion appearances have been infrequent the past few years, as he's spending much of his time contesting the AMA Supercross and National Series, but things went well for the former Suzuki and Honda factory support rider on this night. Lacey, who had earlier topped the 125cc Pro class, made things tough for the Washingtonian on Saturday night, although McCormick, who mjssed a Steele Angle-Davidson was a double-class winner on Friday night, picking up the 60cc Senior and 60cc Open-class victories in Salem, Oregon. Another rider to snare a doubleclass decimation, KTM rider Steele Angle-Davidson, went on a four-forfour rampage, although he got much tougher challenges than he normally does. Fellow KTM rider Nash Blaylock pushed Angle-Davidson throughout the first 60cc Senior moto and finished second overall. AngleDavidson's closest foe in the competitive 60cc Open class was once again Blaylock, whose 2-2 performances netted him his second consecutive second-place finish overall. Devin Massey, R.J. Leach and Blake McMackin filled out the top five. Yamaha rider Travis McMackin was the dominant force in the 125cc Junior and Before The Hill Junior classes, topping Honda rider Jason Lytle in the 125cc Junior class. Joel Warnicke grabbed the holeshot at the start of the first moto and, for many laps, would hold the point position Dougie Crockett posted a win in Friday's 80cc Beginner class and finished third on Saturday night at the Forster Livestock Pavilion. e nevvs great portion of the 2002 season due to injuries, appeared to be back on track and scored an overall 250cc Pro-class win. Lacey, Washington's J.R. Vielle, Trevor Brooks and Nick Foister cracked the top five overall. The evening's top Amateur performer was Polini rider Brayden Massey. On this night, Massey won the Pee Wee (4-6) and 50cc Open classes, surviving close confronta· tions with Garrett Christoffersen and Jonathan Andrew en route to taking his two wins. Christoffersen, who has this year also made the jump to the 60cc ranks, trailed Massey in both Pee Wee (4-6) motos to secure second overall, followed by Ben Terry and Husky rider Alan Burggren. Andrew finished second to Massey in the 50cc Open class, while Coby Ayres garnered third, ahead of Husky riders Casey Sutton and Jack Foeckler. eN Forster Live.tock Pavilion Salem, Oregon Results: Oecember ZO-ZI, ZOOZ [Round 61 Friday P/W (4·6): 1.
