If Arenacross just wasn't kind to
many of the stars of the National Arenacross Series. A string of crashes
and incidents left a number of riders
bruised and broken following the two
nights of racing, but not all riders
were bitten by the crash bug, such as
series points leader Josh Demuth,
Buddy Antunez, Darcy Lange and
Tommy Hofmaster, all of whom came
away from Guthrie without a scratch.
Lange, however, perhaps had the
best weekend, as he moved a little
closer to points leader Demuth.
Lange settled for nothing less than
second all weekend.
A lot of the carnage took place
before the racing began. On Friday, a
number of riders were banged up during the afternoon practice session, as
well as in the evening's racing program.
Pedro Gonzalez was one of those
riders who was knocked out early.
Gonza lez reportedly broke one wrist
and dislocated the other and was

FRIDAY
The first main-event of the weekend was Friday night's 125cc feature,
which saw Yamaha rider Ryan Huffman jump out into the early lead
ahead of Yamaha pilot Phil Lawrence
and Kawasaki-mounted Lange.
Demuth didn't get the start he wanted, as he rounded the first turn in fifth
place.
Demuth, however, was on the
move when the red flag came out,
halting the race. Jeff Willoh, who
wasn't jumping the track's triple
jump, was landed on by another rider,
Isaiah Johnson. Johnson got the
worst of it and was carried off the
track with back and neck injuries.
Word has it that Johnson broke three
vertebra in his neck and four in his

did not suffer any damage to his
spinal cord.
WHloh, meanwhile, was knocked
out in the crash and lay on the track
for what seemed like days. But he
was actually unconscious for a short
while before getting back on his feet
and getting a ride back to the pits.
