The evening started out with a delicious meal hosted by Ocala Motorsports. A great big pig was roasted over a hot barbecue pit. Everyone brought a dish to go with it. and there was plenty of food left over when it was all done. The awards were given out next. Ken and Carol Blackburn, the owners of the track, thanked all the riders who participated. Everyone was given a dume bag filled with goodies. The top three received piaques, with the winner of each class receiving a new Dunlop rear tire. The high-points award went to Jesse Freeman. Due to the lack of participation and the rising costs of promoting this little series, this was the last year it will be held, though the pig roast will be held at about the same time next year. The track has been open for more than 15 years, and the entire facility is going to be revamped for the upcoming season, so the Blackbums hope that everyone will come out to the first' race of 2003 to see the changes that have been made. AMA District 29 Su merlfall Series Final Round: Rolling Hills Cycle Park Stancil LetterPerfect By MARK NEOENS REIDSVILLE, NC, NOV. 10 A cloudy day and threats of rain put a damper on this race day, but the rain stayed away, and the track stayed in great condition for the final round of the AMA District 29 Summer/Fall Series and the final race for 2002 points. Large A classes made for some great racing. In 125cc A action, Blake Hovis, who had swept both A classes the day before, took off behind Jason Bryant. Hovis was followed by Aaron Stancil. In the first turn after the whoops, Hovis took the front spot from Bryant, and Stancil fell in right behind Bryant. Stancil was being followed by Brandon langdon in fourth. Shawn Neilsen, in his first A race, was running fifth. Mark Wagner took a spill in the first tum and was slow getting up. Hovis slid out in a turn and let Bryant take over the lead. Stancil and Langdon went by, and Hovis got up and going before Neilsen went by, but Neilsen pushed his way by Hovis anyway. Up front, Stancil made a good pass on Bryant for the first spot, and Neilsen started banging bars with Langdon. Stancil and Bryant were swapping the first position back and forth, with neither giving a inch. Hovis, meanwhile, went under Neilsen to take the fourth spot. Hovis went hot and wide into the tum and got just in front of Langdon, but Langdon stayed on his back tire. Stancil got back In front, with Bryant putting a tire under him at every tum. Bryant made the pass on Stancil and Hovis in a quick move through the whoops and made the pass on Stancil for second. Hovis got right in between the battling Bryant and Stancil. Hovis was looking for any chance and went side by side into the double with Bryant and took over first. As they all went by the first tum, Bryant repassed Hovis. Going into the whoop section, Stancil went in 42 DECEMBER 11, 2002' cue Rolling Hills Cycle Park Reidsville, North Carolina Results: November 10, 2002 (Final Round) 50 SHAFT: 1. Jarek Balkovk; 2. MX of Marion County The Last Big Hurrah By CRAIG JOHNSON REDDICK, FL, NOV. 2 The annual pig roast and track awards fin· ished out another great year of racing for Motocross of Marion County in Reddick, Florida. The riders who signed up to race in the Reddick series points were awarded with some terrific prizes, as long as they raced at least three out of the five races. The track has its own promoted races once in a while, as well as hosting rounds of the Florida Winter Am, Florida Motocross Series, Florida Gold Cup Series and Florida Vintage MX Series, as well as Loretta Lynn's area/regional qualifiers Swift Swifter Than Most By HOMER EOBANKS RAMONA, CA, NOV. 3 Cas Swift took overall wins in the three events he entered during round three of the Barona Oaks Winter Mini Series. Swift managed to win all six motos entered in the 125cc Open, 125cc Intermediate and 16-25 classes. Joshua Huerta was another repeat winner, as he swept past the competition in the Supermini class and came back in the second 85cc Intermediate moto to win back the over.1I from Jake Oswald after placing second to Oswald in mota one. Randy Rush proved he still has some energy left, as the Over 30 Veteran Intermediate rider stepped back to the 250cc Novice class and, with 2-1 results, won out over Neal De Garmo, who went 1-2 for second overall. Rush is a consistent favorite in the Veteran class, but he couldn't match the pace set by Corey Falter at this event. Falter won the overall with his 1-2 showing, as Rush went 3-1 for second overall. Ken Lurcook earned his third-overall spot with 2-3 results. Dayton Banegas rode to a strong victory in the 125cc Novice class. Banegas got a poor start in moto one and watched Danny Hart reach the checkered flag first. In the following moto, Banegas got the gate and led the riders around turn one and to the checkers. Jack Musick gave Banegas a good race but, after pressuring him for five laps, had to settle for second. Musick's 3-2 score placed him second overall, with Hart finishing third overall. Daniel Overton rode his Polini to repeat wins in Super Pee Wee action. Overton was able to run without pressure when Eric Yorba fell in turn one. Yorba was able to remount and work back up to second. Garret Jackson managed to earn the second-overall spot after going 3-2, edging out Yorba, who went 2-3. In XR50 action, Chris Koller edged out Jantz Grodzick for the overall. Koller lost moto one to Grodzick but came back in the follow· ing race to grab the checkered. Kyle Hopper was third with his 3-3 efforts. Results FIT (0-8) SHAFT; 1. Tyler Conos (Hon); 2.
