District 16 racing ended in late September, but the Friday Night Series ~t Gravity Pi!lrk is going strong well into the month of October. Cool temps didn't slow down the hot racing action, with participants racing the stadiumcross-style track. Shaun Miller jumped out to an early lead in the 12Scc A division. Following closely w~s Loretta Lynn's qualifier Greg Hochmuth, on a SuzukI. Miller pushed hard in the opening laps of the first mota, stretching his lead by more than four seconds. Hochmuth got things going well into the seven-lap race, as he pulled olongside Miller in the step-down leading into the whoop section. Hochmuth skimmed i!Icross the whoops. coming out on top as the peck entered the corner. Miller, quite surprised by the lead change, charged back h~rd and retook the lead on the final lap when Hochmuth got hung up in the hairpin comer. Miller took the win, with Hochmuth close behind. Hochmuth got the second-mota holeshot, with K~w~saki jockey Miller right on his rear fender, hounding him on the opening lap. Hochmuth seemed to be faster than Miller through the corners, but a few mistakes by Hochmuth in the whoops kept Miller close. Hochmuth got a little sideways in the first whoop section; he kept his Suzuki dancing but also lost som~ time in the process. Miller closed the gap and eventually made the pass stick on the final lap. Miller hit the spectator jump two bikelengths ahead of Hochmuth, whipping it for the crowd. Hochmuth made a valiant effort in the final comer but hit Miller with his front wheel, sending the secondplaced rider to the ground; there just wasn't enough room to stick the bike in. Miller got the second-mota win and the sweep. Hochmuth took second, and Dennis Hamburger captured third, ahead of Brad Johnson. Young Garrett Hojnacki kept up his winning ways in the 12Scc Band 2S0cc B divisions. Hojnacki held the lead throughout the entire first 12Scc B mota but had to fight his way to the front in the second moto. The Suzuki rider h~d to get around Josh Paken- Cedar Raceway Park: Justin Fraughton (757) held off Zac Humphries (81) for the overall 125cc Intermediate-class win at the Utah Sport Riders Association Motocross event in Cedar City. Barnes and Mortensen went at it lap after lap, while ZuJian took over third when Panzer went down. Barnes scored the first-moto win, with Mortensen h~uJing through in second. Panzer held off Oldroyd for third. In molo two, W~re stormed to the first tum ahead of Mortensen, Barnes and Panzer. Barnes quickly cranked it up, slashing and cutting for the le~d on the west side. Mortensen made his move to second in the rhythm section. With Bames and Mortensen moving out again, Panzer fought into third. Barnes went on to win moto two, a little more comfortably this time, with Mortensen a solid second, and they went one-two for the Open Pro overall. Panzer led ZuJian and Ware in the final results.
