Texas/Oklahoma Regional Classic Round 4: Cooperland Raceway Drake's Cakewalk By CONNIE JOHNSON STILLWATER, OK, OCT. 13-14 Cooperland Raceway hosted round four of the sixth annual Pro Circuit 2002 Texas/Oklahoma Regional Classic. While Saturday's cloudy, gray and rainy weather left a lot to be desired, Mother Nature made up for it on Sunday with sunny skies and a high of 60. The track was in excellent shape after the soaking rains of the week before. Of course, Chris Brown, the new proprietor, did put in long hours the night before so that the track would be in perfect shape, and it was. Guy Cooper was also on hand to work his magic with a bulldozer. Amber Drake put her Yamaha on top of the podium with relative ease in the Women's 85cc-and-Up class. Getting the holeshot in moto one and leading Suzuki jockey Chris Blewett, Kawasaki jockey Taryn Covington, KTM rider Kristi Lane and Suzuki pilot Jenny Leonard to the finish line was all in a day's work for the rider from Houston. Moto two stacked up the same way after Drake passed Blewett, who had gotten the holeshot this time around. The top five crossed the finish line in the same order as in moto one. In moto one of the 50cc (4-6) class, there was a huge pile-up just after the gate dropped on the downside of a jump. Out in front at the end of lap one was KTM-mounted Cade Moore, with Cobra tamer Riiey Alvey just behind him. Aivey managed to hang on to finish second, behind Moore, by keeping a knobby in front of Chase Rowan, who was also piloting a Cobra. KTM pHot Pierce Low and Polini pHot Marshall Reed rounded out the top five. Moore got the holeshot in moto two but slid out in the next-to-Iast comer before the "Mini Warriors HITS" (#154) The latest in the 'Mini Warriors' series, 'Mini Warriors Hits' takes a look at the recent crop of mini cycle racers, and revisits some of the top mini riders that have stepped up to the big time.
