ors. The event drew 192 riders, divided among
33 classes, racing on two tracks.
In the showdown between Bell and Meyers
in the 125cc (16-25) contest, Meyers could do
no wrong, winning both motos over Bell.
Meyers must have scared off all the competition in the 125cc and 250cc Intermediate
classes, so he easily rode to those victories.
Bell won the 125cc Novice class after
first besting Dayton Benegas in moto one and
then Josh Navarro in the second mota. Navarro (3-2) took second overall. BMXer-tumedmotocrosser Danny Hart (5-3) earned third
overall.
Bell took repeat wins again in the 250cc
Novice race by keeping Neal De Garmo
behind him in both outings. Randy Rush ran
with the front-runners in both events to take
third overall in a class of six.
Joe Schryver and Tommy Duchars went
back and forth in both 125cc (12-15) motos.
Duchars proved quicker off the line in both
races but had a persistent Schryver clinging to
him like a cheap suit. Schryver took the lead
on lap two of mota one, but Duchars came
back on the following lap to reclaim the lead
and take the eventual win.
Duchars led Schryver around turn one
again in moto two and held the spot for two
laps before Schryver elbowed his way into the
lead on lap three. For the next two laps,
Duchars made repeated attempts to repass,
but he had to settle for second.
Schryver wasn't so lucky in the 125cc
Novice class, finishing sixth overall.
Eric Yorba rode his Cobra to victory in the
both the 50cc (7-8) and Super Pee Wee
events. Yorba had to work for those victories,
as he lost the first Stock mota to Jackson
Ryan. In moto two, Ryan couldn't get around
Nathan MacGilfrey, but his 1-3 showing gave
him second overall. In Super Pee Wee action,
Carlos Don took mota one, over Yorba. Then
Yorba came back to reverse those positions
when it counted most for the overall. In both
races, Don held off Garret Jackson, who finished third overall.
Nicholas Bayerle rode his Kawasaki to
victories in the 65cc (9-11) and Open classes.
Adrian Fuller mastered the 85cc riders,
taking repeat wins in both 85cc (7-16 land
Supermini action.
Brian Taylor continued his winning ways
by taking repeat wins in both the 50cc (0-6)
Stock and Modified classes. Clayton Cooke
(3-2) had to settle for runner-up in the Stock
class. Cooke was again in the action in the
Modified class, finishing second to Taylor, but
then couldn't match the pace set by Gage
Farner for third overall.
Larry Butler recently came out of a
20-year retirement to again race at Sarona
Oaks. Butler took the Veteran Beginner Over
30 overall with repeat wins over Mike Sander.
CN
Kevin Galgerud (3-3) was third overall.
