had his hands full with Hendrix and Elwell. Hendrix got around Mumford for the lead, only to go down and re-enter the race in eighth place. Mumford would lead the remaining laps to sew up the overall on 2-1 rides. Hendrix fought his way back toward the front to pass Cirocco for third place in the last tum to salvage second overall on the night. Elwell went 5-2 to top the 3-4 score of Cirocco for third, Results SiPiV' (T·9), I. Sha"" Emenon IKTM); 2. DI'Ion Rowsel' (Pol), 3. Dane t..Tom (K'TM). 63 BEG: 1. Dalton laM (Kawl: 2. By lap three, Sanchez had a seven-second cushion on Peek and would double that gap by the time the checkers waved. Peek put in a great ride to finish a safe distance ahead of Jackson. A good battle for fourth went down to the wire, with Travis Bright putting a lastlap move on Sheri Cruse to earn the position. Round two was almost a duplicate of the first, as Sanchez grabbed the early lead, with Peek running a close second. The two frontrunners immediately started to pull away from the pack as Jackson overtook Cruse for third place. Peek kept Sanchez's lead down to just a few seconds this time out, but he had to be content with another runner-up finish. Jackson held down third place up until the penultimate lap, when he went down. handing third in the moto and third overall to Cruse. Bright (4-4) and Jackson (3-7) rounded out the top five, Scott Mumford and Daniel Hendrix traded the 125cc Novice first-moto lead back and forth a couple of times before Hendrix made a pass stick and then pulled away on the whiteflag lap for the win. Joey Cirocco dogged Ricky Barger for much of the moto, finally moving into the third spot for good with a lap remaining. Len Elwell and Kenny Wilson hooked up together after midpack starts to climb up to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. YZ250F-mounted David Robertson got the holeshot in moto two, only to be overtaken by Mumford in short order. By lap two, Mumford UnkLII; 4. Dylan 6.5 JR CYCLE STK (6·8): 1. Cody Siver, 2. Planet X Treme Motorsports Park Behnen There. Done That By BROC M1KEL MASON. IL, SEPT. 7 Mother Nature would not loose her grip on summer. With temperatures knocking on the 95-degree mark, it was another hot weekend of racing. Planet X Treme was ready for this event, haVing developed their track more in one season than most tracks do the whole time they're open. With hot showers. real bathrooms, a bike wash and a swimming pond with a sand beach, this is truly a place where the whole family can come for a great time. Planet X Treme's layout is fun, fast and safe. Yamaha rider Brian Behnen had his YZ250F on the pipe! The 125cc A class is no easy class to win, but on this day Behnen and his four-stroke made it look easy. Behnen grabbed the first-moto holeshot and never looked back. Behind him, Yamaha rider Ryan Tracy and F&S Suzuki/Thor/ Smith/Vamer/EVS-sponsored Suzuki Rider Dustin Crow put on the race of the class. Tracy had his YZ carving up the sawdust, and Crow looked like he was getting used to the track more every lap, At moto's end, Crow had to settle for second. In the second mota, Crow had another ide., He would get to the front and take the mota win. But he forgot to tell that to Behnen, who again grabbed the holes hot and was gone. Behnen took the moto and overall win. Crow was on the gas and not that far off Behnen's pace. Crow finished second for the moto and second overall. Tracy cranked his YZ to third for the moto and third overall. The 125cc B class was also one to watch. RL Suzuki rider Jacob Lustig had the track dialed in. He had his RM on the pipe for every lap of both motos. taking the wins and the overall. Honda rider Sean Hamblen tried to keep him in sight but couldn't match his pace on this day. Hamblen finished runner-up in both motos and overall. The battle for third was a good one. Sean Lawhead is new to the 125cc class but didn't show it, as he placed his 2003 KX in third for mota one. Honda rider Kirt Monk finished fourth in the first moto. In the second moto, Lawhead had trouble in the early stages and could only manage fifth at the end. Monk. on the other hand, was on the gas and was more than happy to take third for the moto and third overall. Lawhead finished fourth avera)). The Over 30 A class was as easy as one, two, three - with "one" being Husky rider Alex Rossetto, who finished first in both motos and overall in every class that he entered on this day. He was also the fastest rider on the track all day. "Two" was Bill Bowman, who does not like the number two, but on this day that's where he would end up - second in both motos and overall. "Three" was Honda rider James Anderson, who put his CRF across the line third in both motos for third overall. Results, 50 JR: 1. Richard Tumer: 2. Orayke Siz.t!fTlOl'e; 3. Jett M1kt!WOrth; 4. CROIX FAU-S, WI, SEPT. 7 Troy Solnitsky is beginning to come to terms with his DTX'ed CR250 Honda; he sped to victory in the highly competitive 250cc A class during the Burr Racing Promotions dirt-track races held at Koppellah Speedway, located in SL Croix Falls, Wisconsin. The 250cc A main event got under way with Charlie Dahlheimer taking the early lead and Solnitsky, Kevin Anderson, Darick Pearson. Eddy Hampe and Roger Amlee giving chase. Solnitsky, however, remained calm and methodically chased down Dahlheimer, who was aboard the new Honda 450cc four-stroke, ~nd made a smooth p~ss on the race leader in turn one. Solnitsky then repeated his heatrace efforts and raced to the checkers with a slight margin over Dahlheimer, who came under attack from Anderson in the later stages of the race. Dahlheimer would eventually go on to place second, over Anderson and the rest of the field. Shawn Burr scored a less dramatic win in the 505cc A class, in which he smoothly dialed his Rotax around the high-banked, three-eighths-miie oval. The Over 40 class saw he~t-race winner Joe Bentfield out front until the last lap, when Eric Brouhard slipped by in tum three to nab the victory. The Vintage Twin class saw three different leaders in six laps. Jon Markuson puUed the holeshot but was passed by Ed Hampe on lap two. Hampe was then passed by Dave Koch at the halfway point in turn three_ Although they remained close. Koch held on for the eventual win.
