"The challenge is out there for the riders: Cherry said. "This is the toughest track that I ever rode. Chuck should try to get Kevin Hines out here for the challenge." Szweczyk added that Greenlee must be trying to put on the country's toughest race and if it's not, it has to be close. Two races remain in the season, and GreenJee has sent out the challenge to riders of all ages. Along with Lojak Yamaha Racing (www.lojaks.8m.com). Davis Cycle Sales, Grove City Motorsports, Augustine KTM, Five Star Cycle, WER, FMF, Ron Hartman Concrete. Pirelli, DP Brakes, Kosmic Signs £, Designs, Thor, and Renthal, Greenlee thanked all the riders who have so far taken the chal- lenge of a "true Americl!n woods race" and hopes to see you at the next race. Bennett (Yem) Kenworthy's GP Club Dunaway Does It at Kenworthy's By RUPERT x_ PWETT TROY, OH, AUG. 25 Ff,S Suzuki/Ohio Motosports-backed Charlie Dunaway returned to this difficult circuit, which is surrounded by farm fields and a river, to work his magic. He won both big-money races and a bunch of contingency bucks. Dunaway. returning from a very serious neck injury suffered at this very track just a year ago, didn't win the easy way - in fact. he came from dead last in moto two of the 125cc A class - yet the native of Lucasville, Oh.io, and joumeyman Pro flashed his RM125 and 250 in for three of four moto wins in the heavily stacked 125cc and 250cc A classes. Dunaway's 1-1 postings in the 250cc A classes were even more triumphant, in that a lot of out-of-state and local Ohio-based Pro and Expert racers were involved . 15 in the 250cc A class, and 16 in the 125cc A class. ActuaBy, the 125cc A class was most probably the more rewarding for Dunaway, as Steve Andrich won moto one and Dunaway had to come from a terrible, gas-off start to win on this high-flying course. With overflow fields in virtually every cllI:sS and tons of competition, the racing was talent-laden and fuB of great racing. Nathan Skaggs was seemingly one of the fastest non·Pro riders on the day, aithough a get-off and a fifth-place finish in moto one of the 125cc B class would aBow Schoolboyclass winner Kyle Preston to take the win. Skaggs did storm off with a 1- 1 whipping of the 250cc B fieid, with Preston taking a weB-run 2-2. In old-guy-c1ass action, Mark Kiser had an incredible day on his RM250. Kiser took both the Over 25 and Over 30 B divisions, while Buckeye Powersports' Brian Gonser took sec· and behind him in both classes. Gonser also whipped the Open class on his Swifty Madinger-tuned CRF45OR. Over on the Pee Wee track, it was all Team Green's Justin Weeks. The Cincinnati native sank the hopes of the 80cc (7- 11) and 65cc riders, leaping home for four mota wins on the riverside circuit. Results P/W 50: 1. Brody Davidson (taM); 2. Cedar City Raceway Holdaway Holds On By DICK GOODWIN CEDAR Cm', UT, AUG. 25 Honda hotshoe Jeff Holdaway, racing in the combined Open Intermediate/Over 30 Intermediate clash, took home the hardware in the Open Intermediate division. It wasn't exactly 8 walk in the park, however, as he had to hold off first-mota winner Justin Fraughton to collect the cup by mere inches. Asinine Clothing-backed Over 30 Intermediate rider Calvin Cahoon fired a shot for the old guys when the second wave lit it up for race one, leading the combined divisions around the big tree. He was quickly displaced by High Velocity heavy hitter Willie Ungerman. Sunstar's Fraughton and MSR-backed Scott Theobald soon blasted into second and third. Fraughton made his move in the back section, taking the point, while Holdaway was mounting a charge, taking third after the big tabletop Cedar City Raceway: Levii Hall (893) was the winner of the 60Cc Stock (6-8) class In Cedar City, Utah_ and moving into second just before the finish line. Fraughton was in orbit out in front, increasing his lead with every lap, while HoldaWlI:Y cemented himself in the runner·up slot. Ungerman finished a very respectable third, with Theobald the last of the front-running group. The second moto is "do or die," so Holdaway decided to "do" - and he did, right in front of Fraughton, Ungerman and Plaza Cycle star Justin Smith. Holdaway picked up the pace and Fraughton matched it, and the two leaders separated themselves from Ungerman and the rest. It got closer and closer as the laps rolled on, bar to bar. with neither rider willing to blink. Meanwhile, Ungerman took permanent possession of third. Finally, as the checkers waved, Holdaway's front tire s8ved the day, and rescued the overall Open Intermediete trophy, as close, clean racing demonstrated once again what a great sport motocross can be. From drama to dominance· the 80cc Open class had a little of the former and a lot of the latter. Steven Wade Powersports' shooter Zack Ahleen opened up the action, leading Suzuki star Brodie Humphries and Thousand Oaks Kawasaki hotshoe Ronnie Goodwin around the first tum. Point Powersports' landon Powell snapped his Suzuki up into second, but it was short-lived, as Goodwin blasted past everyone in the rhythm section to take the lead_ AIhleen held second, but Humphries was all over him, passing for second at the end of the rhythm section on lap two. Goodwin cruised, Humphries cranked it up in second, and Powell nailed down third as race one concluded. Ahleen was quickest again as moto two exploded into action. Powell, Humphries and Goodwin were in a tight pack, trying to chase him down. Goodwin ripped the rhythms once again, shooting into first, as Humphries followed right behind, landing in second place. Goodwin put it on cruise control out front, but the b>lttle for second place was a paint-swapping war between Ahieen and Humphries for most of the race, until Humphries was able to pull away in the waning stages. Maxima's Goodwin took the overall win, capping eight for eight for 85cc moto wins on the weekend, while Humphries took second and led AIhleen and Powell in the final results. 65 OPEN: 1.
