AMA District 6 Championships Round 12: Hurricane Hills Sports Center replay of the first moto. The top five quickly spread out and went unchanged all the way to the checkered flag. SANDERSON CUFFORD, PA, SEPT. 8 ~ RP/Ray's Yamaha's Jeremy Cook and Husqvarna pilot Christopher Ramsey topped the podiums of the supercompetitive 125cc A and B classes, respectively, at round 12 of the AMA District 6 Championships, hosted by Hurd Motorsports at the beautiful Hurricane Hills Sports Center in Clifford, Pennsylvania. More than 400 of the most talented motocrossers in AMA's District 6 came out to the fast and technical Hurricane Hills racecourse to earn points to see who will be the fastest rider in their home district. Each District 6 motocross track hosts two rounds of the 18-round series to determine who is the overall best rider in the district. Mother Nature provided yet another beautiful day, though it was a little on the hot side, with temperatures hitting at least 90 degrees. The Hurricane Hills track staff did another great job of preparing the track, which was extremely fast, loamy, and relatively smooth throughout the day. Cook won both motos in the extremely competitive 125cc A class. Runner-up honors went to Yamaha pilot Chris Hunter, with his consistent 2-2 rides. Caleb Miller rounded out the podium with his 3-4 tally. Cook got his Yamaha thumper to the front of the pack in the first 125cc A moto and rounded the first turn with the early lead. Trailing him were Casey Clark, Miller, Hunter and Jim Mcilvaine. Clark had the point position by the time the leaders exited the rhythm section. Cook was relegated to second. Third through fifth were unchanged. Just two turns from the start of lap four, in the turn preceding the front tabletop jump, Cook and Clark got together to trade some paint. Clark went down, giving the lead to Cook. Hunter was now in second, Miller third, Mcilvaine fourth, and Pat Simpson had moved up to fifth. Clark's Yamaha thumper refused to restart, and when it finally did, Clark found himself down a lap. The top five were well spread out by lap five and remained unchanged to the checkered flag. Cook took the first-moto win, with Hunter, Miller, Mcilvaine and Simpson trailing. Cook got another great start in the second moto and pulled out to the early lead. In tow were Clark, Hunter, Miller and Mcilvaine. After 2 1/2 laps, Cook was still in the point position, with Hunter getting around Clark to take second. Miller and Mcilvaine were still fourth and fifth, respectively. Once again, the top five spread out quickly, and the rest of the moto turned out to be quite the snoozer. Cook got another moto win. Rounding out the top five were Hunter, Clark, Miller and Mcilvaine. Ramsey earned top honors in the extremely fast 125cc B class via his perfect 1-1 score. Second overall went to David Disciullo, who had a consistent day with 2-2 rides, while Thomas Addy's 3-3 finishes earned him third overall. Walt Zabrowski got a great start aboard his Yamaha thumper and led the pack out of the first turn in the first 125cc B moto. Trailing him were Ramsey and Disciullo. When the leaders exited the technical rhythm section, the top five were now Ramsey, Zabrowski, Disciullo, Andrew Weigand and Zachary Feaster. With 2 1/2 laps completed, the top four were unchanged, though Addy made a pass on Feaster for fifth after a notso-great start. Addy wasted no time and began a charge to the front. Addy caught and passed Weigand for fourth in the turn following the finish line at the start of lap three. About the middle of lap three, Ramsey had a 4 1/2-second lead. Zabrowski came into the turn before the downhill tabletop a little too hot and bogged in the deep loam of the berm, and it cost him two positions. Disciullo and Addy blew by to take second and third. Zabrowski found himself in fourth. Weigand held fifth. Ramsey's lead was five seconds by the end of lap four. Weigand crashed on the step-up double at the entrance to the rhythm section, giving fifth to Stephen Hunter. Ramsey was feeling confident on the last lap and tried a little styling on the downhill tabletop but then managed to dump it in the following turn. Fortunately, his lead was big enough that he managed to remount in the lead and take the firstmoto win. Trailing him were Disciullo, Addy, Zabrowski and Stephen Hunter. There was a three-way tie for the second-moto holeshot, as Ramsey, Disciullo and Feaster were side by side exiting the first turn. When the leaders came off the rhythm section, the top five were Ramsey, Disciullo, Addy, Zabrowski and Feaster. The second moto was almost a complete P/w: I. Jarek BllIlkovie (KTM): 2.
