The shock running through the off-road community of the Northwest has put long faces and tears on many tough guys and hurts us all deeply. What a terrible loss. Howard and Enid Larson raised a young man to be proud of. I've never heard a bad word about Eric. He had a lot of heart and cared about people. I remember how shook he was when Danny Hamel died. How could it be? Eric got to ride with some of his heroes in the Mojave Desert 10 years company, the event should have never been scheduled for Competition Park - new or old - in the first place. This is a world-class event and should be held in a world-class facility. The FIM, Dorna, and the AMA should have put their heads together with the National Promoters Group to come up with the best possible U.S. venue. The only candidate in Southern California should have been Glen Helen. And the promoter shouldn't be in a position to lose his shirt. This race should be subsidized so the U.S. can show the world that we know how to host a major event. We are kind of like the yeast in a bottle of wine that grows until it eventually kills itself through its own land to commercial use so they can make a lot of money. Go up to Oregon where the foresters clear-cut everything regardless of natural value. An example of this is some natural hot springs a friend showed me where they could have kept a grove of trees, but wouldn't! They see ORVs are a way to get a larger political base for this goal. It's a lot like the Mafia. In joining them, you may accomplish some of your goals, but at what cost? waste. I guess those who want to economically benefit from off-roading want continued growth, but maybe it would be better if our community remained small but devoted. Possibly I'm tired of watching zit-faced urban 4x4 owners tear up any piece of dirt they can get a tread on and then crying because they scratched their truck. Tolleson then goes on to try to scare us by implying that our homes are at risk to forest fires. What's with DavtdBell Castro Valley, CA this? Sure, by definition, if we cut down the forests there will not be forest fires! The idea that we can "thin" ShoW Me The Boys forests is crazy.
