Factory road race pilot Doug Chandler,

SuperMoto race held at the new Stockton

Moto main event; with this being the money
class, it was sure to be 12 laps of killer racing.
Bagnis was on pole; next to him was Chandler, then Yarrow, and Call was on the outside.
Bagnis got off the line well in front of the rest
of the field, followed by Yarrow, Chandler, Call
and Canet. Approaching midrace, the leaders
began to encounter lapped traffic, and a fierce
battle for fifth had emerged; again it was
Canet, Oriandi and Salaveria, the trio all trying
racers something to remember.
Chandler, riding a Pin-it Motorsports
Vertemati 570, started off with an easy win in
the first Open SuperMoto heat race, besting
Fairfield Cycle's Cory Call, who was riding his
new CRF450 for the first time, with 17-inch
wheels. Third place went to Stewart Barber Jr.
on a CR250 DTX.
In the second of two Open-class heats, to
determine the grid for the main, Paul Orlandi
got the holeshot on his Roseville Cyclebacked CRF450. By lap three, a hard-charging Bagnis had taken the lead. By halfway.
Bagnis had nearly five seconds on the rest of
the field. Orlandi, Don Canet, Yarrow and AI
Salaveria were so close together, you could
to out brake one another into turn one.
Salaveria, on several occasions, was the first
to the corner, only to run wide and let the
others by.
The top four positions remained the same
for the entire race. Bagnis was out front with
about a four-second lead over Yarrow. Chan-
dler was right on Yarrow's rear wheel for the
entire race but was unable to find a way past.
Call was a couple of seconds back in fourth,
followed by Canet, several seconds back in
fifth. Salaveria was all over Canet for the
remainder of the race, trying desperately to
get around him in every comer. The two bat-
have covered them with a blanket. Then, on
lap six of 10, Yarrow made II brilliant move,
sliding under both Canet and Orlandi going
each beaten each other. Bagnis and Chandler
each eamed a win and a third; Yarrow, being
the only nonwinner, was still able to go away
feeling like he'd beaten the best.

In the Premier heat race, riding a Scuderia
