slick move put him in the lead momentarily, he gassed it too hard and lost traction. The brief loss of momentum put Miller at the checkered flag first. The exciting finish to the extremely aggressive mota drew tons of applause from the crowd in the packed bleachers. The action was also remarkable in the 85cc classes. With the Stars of Tomorrow race coming up in October, racers are using the weekly races for practice for the eighth annual event. In the 85cc Advanced (12-15) class, Daniel Black, the current Championship Motocross Series points leader, had more than his fair share of competition. In mota one, Black took the holeshot and stayed out in front for the first half, but on the last two laps, local rider Greg Durivage charged up to Black on his Championship PowerSports CR85. Durivage gave it his best shot but, try as he might, he was unable to pass Black. Giving Black a run for the mota win, Durivage also received challenge from Mark Burns, who ended up a close third at the finish. In moto two, Black again took the holeshot, but this time Durivage reeled him in and made the pass at about the halfway point of the race. Brian Howard made it a party for three by keeping in touch with Durivage and Black, chasing and trailing the leaders at every tum and jump. At the finish, it was Dunvage, Black and Howard jumping up the Camel Hump for the checkered flag. As the end of the annual May-throughSeptember Saturday night series nears, the competition gets tougher each week and the race fans are treated to the most exciting Amateur racing of the season. The final race of the Championship Motocross Series will be held October 5 at the Suzuki-sponsored eighth annual Stars of Tomorrow Youth Championship. Moscrop returned to dominate both motos of 250cc Novice action on his TRE/Bridgestone/Answer/Shoei-sponsored Honda. Roy Ledoux had to settle for a pair of runner-up finishes, ahead of Scott Kranyak and Brett Palmer. Results PfW YAM BEG: 1. Mitchell TIe,IIlY (Yam): 2. Matt Weidman (Yam). PfW YAA ADV: 1.
