GFINORm GFISOUTB 209-656-9682 909-:141-8002 Rodeo Arena: Brody Thom on his way to the B main-event win at the Clark County Fair's Mini Warriors Invitational in Battleground, Washington. John Laible and KTM rider Mason Wharton at the end of the race. When the checkers came Qut, it was Thorn with a commanding win, Norman a well·deserved second, and Laible rounding out the podium. Not far behind was Mason Wharton, who handily held off Harriman for fourth. When the flag dropped for the 50cc A main. Kasey Wallace got the holeshot, with Kyle Huffman and Devon Moore right on his tail. The three battled it out right from the getgo, never more than 50 feet apart. When the first lap was over, the top five were Wallace, Hufffman, Moore. B-main winner Thorn, and Brad Frace. It was an exciting race indeed, with the top five all battling for the biggest trophy. The action really got exciting near the end. though. as the Cobra-mounted Frace seemed to find some extra energy somewhere and really got the crowd up on its feet and screaming. With just a lap and a half left, he first picked off Thom, then flew by Moore, then cut in front of Huffman, and then, with only a third of a lap left, he pinned it and executed a perfect block-pass on Wallace and raced to the checkered flag in first. Wallace still got a well-earned second. After a lap-long battle with Huffman, Moore snatched away the third-place spot. Huffman was fourth, and Thorn was fifth. At the start of the 65cc B main, Mike Pontious pulled the trigger the fastest, and after that he never even looked back. Getting sec~ and out of the start was a new 6Scc rider, Brendon Johnson, with Mike's brother Jeff in tow. There wasn't much action up front, as Mike was on fire, putting about two seconds per lap on his competition. There was a bit of a war going on behind him, as poor starter Tanner Salsman, riding a new Suzuki RM65, showed massive improvement from earlier this year and got into third and started to pressure Johnson a bit, but he didn't have enough laps to make any thing stick. Getting the win was Mike Pontious, followed by Johnson and Salsman. Jeff Pontious placed fourth, and rounding out the top five was Cody Raynor. The fastest race of the day was definitely the 65cc A main, which featured some popular up-and-comers including Alec Watts, Frace, and Kyle Garman, just to name a few. Getting the best jump off the line was Watts, riding a borrowed KX65, with Ben Baldasano and Garman in tow. Behind Watts, Garman quickly displaced Baldasano and immediately gave chase to Watts, while Baldasano had to deal with one of the youngest riders in the field, SOcc A-main winner Frace. The two put on a fair show and were running lap times similar to those of Garman. By the fourth lap, it was obvious that Frace was getting tired after riding two classes and couldn't beat Baldasano's arenacross skills, and finally he just settled into fourth, still quite a ways in front of 65cc B-main winner Mike Pontious. When the checkers flew, it was the high-flying Watts with the big win. Garman finished a small ways back in second. and finishing third was Baldasano. Frace cruised to an easy fourth, and Pontious held off the pack to round out the top five.
