"Scott wiped out and I came out of the comer: Aho said. "Then I fouled a plug." With Nelson and Aho having mishaps, the third-placed rider was able to take the firstspot glory. "I was trying to catch them," Groleau said. "~Y crashed and I drove in between them, and I kept running. It was perfect." Meanwhile, Aho tried to push his dying bike. Nelson passed Aho again, and Ron Sanville of Gladstone caught up with Aho. Sanville, riding a bike he had borrowed from Mo, stopped. "Sanville offered to switch bikes," Aho said. Aho declined Sanville's offer and managed to force his bike to the finish line for third place. In the battle for first place, Nelson caught and passed Groleau heading toward the finish line. They crossed the finish-line tabletop side by side. Under the brighter lights, it was clear for everyone attending the highly successful event to see that Seabolt was the dominant factor in the evening's event. Seabolt pushed his Tech-Care CR450 to the overall win in the 250cc Expert class with both mota wins. In mota one, Seabolt was under pressure from Jason Wright, Jeff Plawecki and Chris Lowell for the first three laps but began to pick up speed and momentum as the race went on. In the second moto, Plawecki kept Seabolt in sight but was never able to make the pass. Plawecki, also a T earn Tech-Care racer, was brilliant in his line selection and in his mastery of the highly technical, loamy course. In the 65cc (7-11) class, local favorite Joshua Rutherford took both moto wins despite severe pressure from Nicholas McCarthy. Rutherford's PR Racing 10<65 was flying high over Mount Milan on every lap as he aggressively charged the mountain and all the other jumps. Rutherford commented after practice that he was confident he could win the night's race over current 65cc-c1ass series points leader McCarthy. Problems early in moto one for the McCarthy's Kawasakisponsored racer made Rutherford's job just a little easier. Milan Cycle City, a 30-year night-racing tradition and the only remaining track in got second. "I think I beat him by an eighth of an inch," Groleau said. Right from the start in the 125cc Junior class, Bark River's Andy Zambon snagged the holeshot. Stan Constantino of Rapid River and Robert Denman of Autrain began their fight for second early on the first lap. Jeremy Hughes landed in fourth to start. At the start of lap two, Denman gained on Constantino while sailing over the tabletop finish-line jump. The battle continued throughout the majority of lap two until Constantino bounced off his bike in the last corner on the track. Constantino was watchjng his dad waving him on in the corner when he fell off his bike. Still holding the bike up, Constantino ran next to his bike and quickly hopped back in the saddle. "When I fell off my bike. he [Denman] got ahead," Constantino said. Denman was fighting for the first two laps just to catch up to everyone after suffering a bad holeshot. "I was on his tail, and he just went down," Denman said. ") was right on him, and I got ahead of him." Denman, in second, remained ahead of Constantino for the rest of lap three and through the finish line. Constantino put up a fight as he trailed close behind but finished third. IN, JULY 26 Pat Behrle rolled to both the 600cc Pro-Am and Combo feature wins at the Lawrenceburg Short Track. Zach Palmer and Sam Lowe pressured Behrle in the Pro-Am, waiting for a miscue that never came; they finished a close second and third in the event. In the Combo feature, Lowe again made Behrle earn every inch of his win. Lowe finIshed second, ahead of Joe Garrison, Joel Brown and Mike Sullender. Garrison captured the Open A feature, ahead of Brown, Cody Shamblin and the rest of tihe pack. In the smaller classes, Jeremy Mounts won the 50cc feature, ahead of Danny Hasty. Gravity Park Hopkins, Hojnacki Hijack Gravity By PETE EMME CHILTON, WI, JULY 26 The Gravity Park Friday Night Motocross Series has reached the halfway point. Yamaha-mounted Matt Hopkins has been turning heads lately with his impressive finishes. Hopkins completely dominated the 125cc A class en route to double moto wins on the night. An equally impressive rider is Garrett Hojnacki, who raced his Suzuki to two mota wins in the 250cc B class. Justin Kandler put his Yamaha out front early in the first 125cc A moto. Hopkins was hot on his tail over the 60-foot double. Tyler Smulders was sitting in third, waiting for the right opportunity to join the front-runners. Kandler hit the whoops with the throttle pinned. Hopkins dived to the outside and gained about a bikelength on the leader. The two sprinted down the straightaway and approached the doubles side by side. Kandler came out in front by holding the inside to the left-hander that followed. It took Hopkins one more lap before he found himself out front. with Kandler and Smulders battling behind him. Hopkins gained some ground on Kandler and Smulders for the next few laps and then checked out with the win. Hopkins took the holeshot and led every lap of the second moto en route to his double-moto domination. Kandler put in consistent rides and finished second in both motos. Smulders settled for third overall with 3-3 finishes. Hopkins also ran up front in and won both Sportsmen motos. Cory Smidel went 3-2 for second overall, and Brandon Duchow went 6-3 for a surprising third overall. Ryan Ehlenbach looked smooth off the start on his YZ250F in the 125cc B class. Todd Grube fought his way into second early on but the whoops came up and swallowed him whole. Grube ended up finishing a disappointing fifth. Ehlenbach had about 10 seconds on the field as he led every lap to a moto win. Ehlenbach once again took the lead off the gate in moto two and never looked back. He also dominated the class in convincing fashion. Josh Vandeberg (2-3) placed second overall. Josh Rundertmark (3-4) was tihird overall. Joel Propson got off the gate with a welltimed holes hot in the first 250cc B moto. Suzuki jockey Garrett Hojnacki settled for second on the outside. Hojnacki tried several
