Los Angeles County Raceway Wolff Preys on CRC Competitors By GREG ROBERTSON PALMDALE, CA, JULY 20 Yamaha-mounted Corey Wolff split moto wins with Jeremy Ford to top a full gate of 125cc Beginners at Los Angeles County Raceway during the Sub-Machine Sandwich-sponsored round of California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross. Ford e"ited the first tum with the openingmota holeshot, ahead of Wolff, Anthony Ducato, David Boyle and a host of others. Ford's lead lasted a little over a lap before Wolff took his tum running out front. Ford wasn't about to let Wolff get away, and he would dog his fellow Yamaha pilot up until the final lap, where he would slip back into the top spot to take the win. Ducato was all over Wolff s back fender for a ciose third. Adam Lane finished fourth, with Kevin Williams repassing Kevin Bey on the last lap for fifth. Mike Garcia suffered a poor start and a resulting seventh-place finish in moto one, but he more than made up for it by leading the first few laps of round two. Wolff came from just inside the top 10 off the gate to track down Garcia on the white-flag lap and make the pass to go 2-1 for the overall. Ducato followed Wolff up through traffic to earn the second-place trophy on consistent 3-3 finishes, over the 1-5 score of Ford. Garcia (7-2) and Lane (4-7) rounded out the top five finishers. Roy Ledoux continues to be the one to beat in the Junior Vet Novice class, and this night was no exception, as the Honda pilot once again went 1-1. Geoff Naylor had his hands full with Gary Ivin and Jon Merrifield as he went 2·2 on the evening. Blake Runestad kept a determined Ryan Reina at bay throughout the first 250cc Novice mota to collect the win. Matthew Williams outran Ledoux for third, with Brett Paimer finishing fifth. Williams holeshot race two, only to slide out in the first turn and hand the lead to Runestad. Runestad was untouchable this time out, motoring away for a sweep of the field. Reina would have to settle for a pair of second-pillce finishes, over the 3-4 score of Williams and the 6-3 tally of Chris Walker. Reina, Williams and Runestad would all return to do battle in the 125cc Novice class, with Reina getting to the checkers first in both motos. Williams used 3-2 rides to top the 2-4 score of Runestad for second overall.
