It was a great race and a close one, but it was Hicks' night and the win was his. Brant was a close second, with Janniro and Castro rounding out the field. Matt Browne was on the zero-yard line as they loaded in for the Handicap main. John DeFries and Danny Perkins shared the 10. Hicks was alone on the 40, and Brant and Janniro shared the 50. Browne got off to a good start, holding on to the lead for two laps before Hicks, using the blue groove, got under him and took over the front-running spot. Brant got off slow but made good time, knifing through the field, and with two laps to go he had moved into second, and again the two friendly rivals went at it. Hicks was not to be denied, and he had his second main·event win of the night and Brant had his second runnerup finish of the night. In the last two weeks, these two riders have both had double wins on the night. Final Standings 50 SHAfT: I. Jeff Burgess; 2. Tyl~r Pllrker; 3. Dllkota Pfil.enmayer. 50 (4.6): I. Tyl~r Salas; 2.
