neck with Mike Riddell, but Riddell quickly lost the second spot to Allan Yarrow. The race finished in that order. Biscardi got the holeshot again in the Vet A contest, and behind him the second and third positions changed throughout the race. At the start it was Biscardi, Yarrow and Bob McDonnell; on the third lap, it was Biscardi, Yarrow and Robert Bacosa; on the fifth lap, McDonnell and Steve Hall got by Bacosa and Yarrow. Biscardi stalled in the hairpin, giving McDonnell the opportunity he was waiting for. The race finished as McDonnell, Hall and Yarrow. Sean Jones and Chris Borjas gave the crowd a show in the 250cc race, switching positions and competing fiercely up to and including crossing the finish tine. Borjas was first. The Open A contest was fast, as always, with Mark Key, Tony Souza and Mark Corsetti all within feet of one another start to finish. TackItt (Hon); 4. Scott Petty (Hon); 5. LODI, CA, JULY 13 Lcdi Cycle Bowl hosted round 20 of the District 36 series this week on their world-famous bluegroove TT track. The local riders were back on their home track this week, sharing stories of competition during their recent trip to the Nationais, where they all did a great job representing the Northwest region and District 36. There were some spectacular sight during practice, including that of Eric Weisler's bike burning on the track. Weisler was later presented with a new Arai helmet at the rider's meeting as a gift for his unending dedication and hard work each week to keep the Lodi Cycle Bowl track running smoothly. Weisier's prep keeps the track as smooth as a pool table, making it fun and safe for the riders. The BOcc A race was a contest between Cody Anselmi, Anthony Fong Jr. and Stevie Bonsey. Off the line, Anselmi got the holeshot, with Fong close behind. Bonsey was trailing Fong closely when the opportunity to pass arose; he took it, gaining the second spot. Bonsey rides with the number-three black plate; Anselmi's plate reads "3NW," as he took the third spot in the Northwest regional BOcc A event. Behind them, Joe Hernandez and Chad Cose were in fierce competition for the fourth spot. At the finish, it was Anselmi, Bonsey, Fong, Hernandez and Cose. Michael Martin led the Pee Wee 50cc A race from start to finish, with Jake Strong and Brandon Bemardeau working each other hard for second. At the end, Strong took second. Martin came back to take first in the 60cc A class, in front of Bemardeau. Gary McCleane was victorious in the Pee Wee 50cc C class, after Vincent Grayson led the race until the last lap. Garrett Willis easiiy won the 100cc Modified heat race, but in the main event Darren Johnson was first across the line. Mark Biscardi got the holeshot in the Vet Over 40 contest, only to catch a red fiag due to a four-rider crash in the tree turn. On the restart, Biscardi came off the line neck and Alamo MX Park: Paul Mudd topped the Over 30 Pro division at the second round of the Alamo Summer Night series in Sparks, Nevada. c: Alamo MX Park Three Kings: Mudd, liearney, York By ROBERT BEAUPRE SPARKS, NV,JULY 13 As temperatures in northern Nevada soared to as high as 108 degrees in early July, what local racers really needed was a night race. The second round of the Alamo Summer Night Series became a beacon for racers who wished to not just beat the heat, but to hide from it all together. The previously criticized track surface (which was claimed to be too slick) took on a ~ much tackier composition for the evening, thanks to the efforts of Nevada Motocross Development. The new texture of the circuit drew positive reviews from most of the racers. A number of racers found success under the stars at the Alamo. Carson City's Nathan Tiearney placed his Thor/Scott/Michael'sbacked Suzukis firmly atop the 125cc and 250cc Pro podiums. Coming off a top-10 finish in the 250cc Pro class in Mammoth, Tiearney kept his momentum to snag all four moto wins on the night in convincing fashion. He was followed home in the 250s by Works Racing-backed KX250 jockey Nick Baugh in second, while Tommy Jean took a borrowed Suzuki to second place in the 125cc Pro contest. In the slightly-older-but-still-fast category, Paul Mudd took his Reno Motorsports/SLV Clothing-sponsored YZ250 to a solid victory in the Over 30 Pro class, though not without some pressure from Suzuki jockey Daryl Haney in second. Mudd just came off am injury (the dislocation of a finger on his clutch hand) that left him off the bike for a while, but his riding still looked very smooth. Haney hung on to second in both motos to claim the runner-up spot. However, possibly the most successful racer of the night was a kid who's no stranger to success lately, local rider Tyler York. He recently took his KTM 65 to a win in the 65cc Open class at the ridiculously competitive World Mini Grand Prix in Las Vegas, as well as claiming a top-10 spot in the 85cc Modified (0-11) class on his Kawasaki at the same event. York rode both mounts again at the Alamo and claimed a 1-1 sweep in the 60cc (10+) division, and then also topped the 80cc Intermediate and Supermini classes. In addition to the racing this evening, some of the better freestylers from the area took to the ramp set up for a half-time freestyle contest, including X Games silver medallist (and longtime fixture on the local race scene) Dustin Miller. As expected, Miller topped the contest handily, executing a very smooth Rock Solid on his final jump to seal the victory. Despite the program being held in the evening, the event wasn't the fair-weather paradise that many were hoping for. Foreboding skies (including substantial lightning), along with occasional wind and still fairly warm temperatures, threatened to ruin the event, but luckily things became better as the evening wore on, and likely left everyone with a good impression of the still relatively new facility at the close of the evening. Results Lodi Cycle Bowl: Coming around Lodi's hairpin turn, Cody Anselmi (3) got the holeshot and went on for the win in the 80cc A race, in front of Stevie Bonsey (the other 3) and Anthony Fong Jr. (50), in Lodi, California. 64 AUGUST f4, 2002' cue • e n e _ s 50 (4-6): 1. Los Angeles County Raceway The Osterman Weekend By GREG ROBERTSON PALMDALE, CA, JULY 13 Danny Osterman had a great weekend in Palmdale, using a pair of great come-frombehind rides to earn the 85cc Beginner-class overall honors, as close to 300 riders converged on Los Angeles County Raceway during the Antelope Valley Kawasaki/Yamahasponsored round of California Racing Club's Saturday night motocross. In first-moto action, Kameron Robinson absconded with the holeshot, just ahead of Kruz Griffith, Brandon Kelly, Tylor Hemme and the rest of the pack. Kelly slid up into second place on lap two, with Osterman charging from his ninth-place start to hound Kruz in third. Osterman was quickly around Kruz and found himself running out front when both Robinson and Kelly encountered problems that dropped them to the back of the field. Osterman would eventually pull clear of Kruz by some 10 seconds to take the win. Cheisea Candido followed Osterman up through traffic to run in third place, only to get repassed by Hemme on the last lap. Hemme sewed up the holeshot in race two and had neariy 10 seconds on second-placed Kruz within a single lap. Ostennan was buried deep in the pack off the start, but he sliced his way up to fifth place after just two laps on the J.B. Memorial track. Hemme was untouchable, taking the win aboard his RM85 with half a minute to spare. It looked like Candido would hold off Osterman for a second-place finish, but a bobble just three turns from the checkers gave Osterman on overall on a 1-2 score. Candido went 4-3 for third, behind Hemme, with Griffith (2-5) and Saydge Walker (6-6) rounding out the top five. Nick Mairose walked off with the first-place payback in the Vet Pro class after a pair of wire-to-wire wins. Frank Costanzo kept Mairose in sight but couldn't mount a challenge en route to a 2-2 night. Jimmy Roberts collected the third-place money, over John Blair and Chicken Brewer. Scott Howe was equally impressive in the 250cc Intermediate class, where he motored away from his competition in both metes. Bryan Watson went 3-2 to edge out the 2-4 score of Nicholas Burson for second overall. Chris Plouffe easily dominated both 65cc (9-11) races on his Kawasaki. Kyle Smith was runner-up both times out, followed by Colton Sanders, Candido and Ryan Moscrop. Colby Raha collected the first-place trophy
