CN Hom Rapids ORV Par1l STORY AND PHOTOS BY CLAY LIGHT WEST RICHLAND, WA, JULY 14 he final round of the 17th annual CMC Skagit Powers ports Pac West Nationals was a showcase of Professional-class domination by a trio of riders who had controlled the tempo for the majority of the series. Washingtonians Dan Moore and Jason McCormick and Oregon's Ryan Huffman hammered the competition at Hom Rapids ORV Park, netting the Over 25 Pro, 125cc Pro and 250cc Pro-class victories, respectively. Although there had been a few surprises and upsets in the eightround series, Huffman and McCormick have been the cream of the crop in the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes. Only Californian Evan Laughridge stopped their complete domination with a win at the series opener. McCormick, riding the Pro Grip/Suzuki Motor Corp./WisecoRG3/ DeWils Racing-backed Suzukis, clinched class championships in both classes. Moore performed consistently throughout the series, finishing on the podium in the Over 25 and Vet Over 30 Pro classes at every round; he added championships in those classes to his resume. After winning both Over 25 motos, Moore finished third overall on the day to McCormick and Huffman in the 125cc class, and trailed Huffman and McCormick in the 250cc division. The Schum ate Suzuki-supported rider finished second to McCormick for the series in the 125cc class. Cobra- and Kawasaki-mounted Cody Evanson has had his share of ups and downs throughout the series - mostly ups - and he posted an overall win in the Pee Wee (7-8) class. Evanson finished second in the Pee Wee Open and placed third overall in the 65cc (0-8) class in what was a three-class quest for the rider from nearby Kennewick. Evanson won both Pee Wee (7-8) motos and also scored single-moto wins in his other two classes. Polini rider Tyler Van Zandt snatched an overall win out of Evanson's grasp by winning the second Pee Wee Open moto. Idaho's River Dahlquist spilt moto wins with Evanson in the 65cc (0-8) class, but Dahlquist won overall, since Evanson finished sixth in moto one and was third overall to Dahlquist (1 -2) and fellow KX rider Hunter Evanson, a West Richland native. Suzuki and Kawasaki rider Matt DeAtley has been equally impressive throughout the series, dominating 65cc (9- 11) and 85cc (7 - 11) action. The rider from Lewiston, Idaho, was a four-moto winner on the day, leading fellow Idahoan Austin Hill to the finish in the 65cc (9-11) class. DeAtley came back armed with his RM for the 85cc (7-11) class and did a similar number to the competition, finishing ahead of local VZ rider Mikey Schmeck. In the first 250cc Intermediate moto, Blood followed Siebler to the finish, but it was Justin Lizotte, the overall winner at the previous round, who finished second in the moto. Regardless, Blood earned second overall (2-4), followed by Lizotte (5-2). McCormick and Huffman duked it out in the Pro classes, but it was McCormick's day to shine (with three moto wins) after Huffman's domination of round seven. McCormick won both 125cc Pro motos, although Huffman pushed McCormick to the limits, but McCormick had an answer for all of Huffman's challenges, and won overall.
