Dutch Sport Park Woods' Big Payday BylARRyWITJ'IER BLOOMINGDALE, MI, JUNE 23 Josh Woods came to Dutch Sport Park to practice for the upcoming Red Bud National weekend. The Suzuki pilot came away with a huge $1400 payday for his efforts. It didn't come easily, as on the line for the SExtreme Money Moto were Moto XXX's Nick Wey, Derek Rose, Yamaha's Nick Adams, Randy Valade and a host of fast Michigan Mafia MXers and racers from the tri-state area. The payout was doubied for Sponsor Appreciation Weekend, in tribute to all the great sponsors at Dutch. There are aiways special events at Dutch Sport Park. Larry Witmer held a Scott USA seminar, giving riders some great tips about goggle setups and sharing some secrets that Bevo had shown Witmer throughout the years, and Scott were given away. Scott USA's can· tinued support of Amateur MX. racing is much appreciated. On Saturday night, Dutch hosted the popular Bicycle MX races on the Auto "Smurf City" track, with four different age divisions and a Women's division. Josh Radi won the 15-year-old division and came away with some nice prizes and a grand first-place trophy. In the $Extreme contest, it looked as though B&E's Honda rider Geddy Karrle had the holeshot, but Karrle went too wide around the first corner, giving the $100 holeshot bounty to Rose. Giving chase were M&M Honda rider David Gaylord, Woods, and Dustin Pulley, aboard his Pro Action/DEP/ Thor Honda. Wey was mired midpack. Rose coliected the first-lap bounty money, courtesy of Your Average Joe Photographer. Woods passed Gaylord on the off-camber section with an inside pass. Meanwhile, Wey was on the gas and cutting through the field. Woods took an outside line going into the new rocker section, undercutting Rose and taking the lead on the second lap. Wey was now up to third, but Woods and Rose had a huge lead over the field. By halfway through the 20-minute moto, Woods had a 12-second lead over Rose. Wey had caught Rose with the fastest laps of the weekend. Gaylord was a distant fourth, and Karrle was fifth. Pulley, Valade, John Penrod and Mitch Sluder followed. Wey put an inside block-pass on Rose just going into a ieft-handed off-camber bowl tum. Rose tried to defend his spot, but Wey had the
