Thurston County ORV Park: Dan Moore (716) led the second 125cc Pro moto at round six
of the CMC Skagit Powersports Pac West Nationals in McCleary, Washington, but Jason
McCormick (76) won the moto and overall - completing his fourth consecutive double-class
(125cc and 250Cc Pro) decimatlon_
series' wins, DeAtley wouldn't capitalize on
that day, and his luck wasn't much better on
this day. Hill went on his normal four-far-four
sweep of the 85cc (12-13) and Supermini
classes, leaVing the Suzuki-mounted DeAtley
stranded with 2-2 placings in both, followed
by Keith Batterson.
McCormick's first of four mota wins on the
day came in the opening 125cc Pro mota.
KTM rider Garhett Carter and Vamaha jockey
J. Whipple ran second and third to McCormick
on the first lap, but Oregon's Mike Corder
would eventually finish second to the Suzuki
rider at mota's end. Corder overcame a poor
start and progressed through the field to snare
the Pro Circuit/Team Green-backed rider a
second-place finish, followed by Moore, Whipple, Carter and Montana's Cameron Weaver.
Moore, aiso known for his lightning-fast
starts, jumped out in front in mota two. but
right from the start he had McCormick to deal
with. McCormick challenged Moore's every
move, although it would take two circuits of
the course before Moore would yield to
McCormick for good. McCormick maintained
the lead from that point, while Corder, Whipple and Carter held down the top five positions. Corder rounded out the top three to his
fellow AMA National contenders McCormick
and Moore, but Moore's 3-2 tally left the rider
from Rainier, Oregon, third overall on a 2-3
tally. Whipple (4-4) and Carter (5-5) rounded
out the top five overall.
Billy Binckley held the lead for three laps
during the first 250cc Pro moto, but though
Binckley's ride was impressive, McCormick
found a way past the Yamaha rider and into
the lead by lap four. Binckley ran a solid second to the finish to beat Moore, while Tony
Graves. Corder, Whipple, Carter, Konnrad
Kuest, Jeremy Scism and Jason Zuhlke
rounded out the top 10.
Mota two was much the same for
McCormick, although he took command this
time out from the get-go. Corder ran second
to McCormick for the duration, while Moore
was unable to find a way past the Kawasaki
rider and finished third. Moore's third-place
finish WliS enough to earn the rider from Yakima, Washington, second overall. Binckley.
Graves, Whipple, first-year Pro Tyler Fick,
Carter, Scism and Ryan Mortensen completed
the top 10. Binckley (2-4), Corder (5-2) and
Graves (4-5) were the remaining top-five
overall finishers to McCormick and Moore.
Moore completed his impressive day with
wins in the Over 25 and Over 30 Pro classes.
ahead of Graves. Moore's tally on the day: two
first-place paychecks and a pair of runner-up
finishes to solidify his stranglehold on the
Over 25 and Over 30 Pro classes in the series'
points tabulations.
