Yamaha Dealers Series Round 3: Glen Helen Raceway Park KIND (Abovel Richie Owens (181 won the 125cc Pro class at the third round of the Yamaha Dealers Series. Mike Sleeter (2381 placed third overall. Owens also won the 250cc Pro class. STORY AND PHOTOS BV JOHN BETHEA SAN BERNARDINO, CA, JUNE 16 cting Team R Greenlike a party-crasher,Owens Kawasaki's Richie stole much of the fanfare from the nearly 450 riders on hand as the Yamaha Dealers Series waged its third-round war at Glen Helen Raceway Park's motocross arena on the final spring Sunday of the year. Owens raced to the mota victories in both 250cc Pro motos and also became the third non-Yamaha rider to top the 125cc 'Pros after losing~ opening encounter but corm,e .~k to win the decisi1'\:! second race'~r . Sean O'Connor, fully recovered from· his injury two weeks ago_ Otherwise, things went about as expected, as O'Connor (who finished second in the 125cc Pro class and third in the 250cc Pro class), Terry Fowler (the first Junior Vet Expert and the second 250cc Pro), Willy Musgrave (the first Vet Expert and the third Junior Vet Expert) and Ron Turner (the top Senior Vet) helped lead defending Dealer Series champions John Burr Cycle in gathering the most points at this round. What was surprising, however, was that the Fontana-based shop did not take the most wins, as it had at the previous two rounds. With eight on the day, the dealership had to take second, behind Montclair Yamaha's 11 overalls, led by Ben Ramsaran's two wins, in the Four-Stroke and 125cc Intermediate classes. West Coast also scored heavily, with six wins, much to the overwhelming strength of its minibike racers such as Johnny Jelderda, who placed first in the 60cc (9-11) class and second in the 80cc (4-11) class; . 60 JULY 24.2002' cue • III (Above right) Sean O'Connor was the runner-up In the 125cc Pro class and third overall In the 250cc Pro class at Glen Helen Raceway Parilin San Bernardino, California.
