show for all the people. That's what makes this deal so much fun." Spencer hung on for second, followed by Paul Herman, who won his heat race aboard a Triumph twin whose chassis was built by Bruce Brohme of non-winged sprint car fame. "We ran a true vintage bike tonight," Herman said. "We tried to run with 'em, but we're happy with third. We tried a new tire tonight. It's a Maxxis, and I've never run one before. It was pretty good." Hlebo Brothers Suspension-backed Chris Canepa resumed his reign over the Suzuki Novice 250 class, scoring his third win and sixth consecutive podium finish of the year on his YZ250. Canepa, who runner-upped to cousin -Bradley Spencer at the last round in Perris, made an early pass for the lead on Spencer in the 10-lap main event and then streaked away to the win as Brown's Cycles' David Brown moved into second. Local rider A.J. Kirkpatrick and his Kawasaki KX250 stood out among the Yamaha contingent, and Kirkpatrick managed to also get by Spencer, dropping the Gilroy rider outside the top three for the first time this season. Brown and Kirkpatrick came home second and third, respectively. Canepa's dominance begged the question as to whether or not it might be high time that he make a permanent move to the Open Pro class. "We're working on rides for next season," Canepa said. "We want to move up. I just wanted to come in here and carry the number-one plate for the year before I do that." eN Dunlop Radial Rover Light Truck Tires Presents The 22nd Annual Washougal MX Park National Brought To You By: .: YAMAHA Round # S of the AMAlChevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships Saturday & Sunday - July 27th & 28. 2002 , Saturday - Pro Practice Pro Qualifiers Following Practice Saturday & Sunday Ticket Amateur Racing Information July 25th, 26th & 27th, 2002 Race Fees: $40.00 per class (+admission) No refunds on admissions Gates Open 10:00 am, Wednesday 7-24-02.
